Hi All,
I'm new here and i am looking for a complete laser kit either pre-built or with all necessary parts needed for around £40-£50 inc p+p.
If anyone has anything to offer me the please pm me or reply in this thread can pay by paypal(gift) so no charges are incurred or will pay into a bank account(if the person has enough +rep).
Thanks for any replies,
Dave

It would be helpful to know what color, strength and type of laser you're looking for (i.e. lab style, pen or torch). We can definitely point you in the right direction once we know what you're looking for.

Welcome to LPF!!!

I want a handheld laser. Pen/torch style either is fine. As this is my first laser i'm not too sure on anything to be honest. I'm using this one as a learning laser. I'm going to play with it then modify/upgrade it hopefully. either that or buy another.I would prefer greenjust because i think they look the mutts but im not set on that,
Thanks for any help,
Dave

Thanks Meatball,
I have looked at his page however i am looking to buy a full kit for my first time, knowing my luck id get the wrong sized laser lol.
Using the first kit i am hoping to learn from it and then build custom lasers.
Thanks again,
Dave

There is no sizing that needs to be done with these. They are stripped to accommodate an aixis housing and a custom machined heatsink by Jayrob. Just pass on the "hot" option for whichever build you choose, and you will gain experience. May I recommend the MXDL as a nice and simple DIY kit for a beginner? Its a solid build, and easy to assemble.

Everything you need is in these kits, all you need outside of it is the red or violet laser diode that YOU prefer, or the green module it requires. Easy stuff to plan out really.

I also recommend using a PHR instead of a greeny for a first build. You'll get ~100mw Blu-ray for rather cheap. If you burn it out then it's easy to replace. Modwerx and hightechdealz sells them for <20USD I think.

Thanks for you replies guys,
I will get in touch with jayrob, What is an aixix housing? and if i bypass the "hot" option does this mean i will need a multimeter?(if it does this is a bonus- i am always looking to add to my tool collection ;-) lol)
How much did the MXDL kit cost to build in total?
Thanks again for your help,
Dave

The hot option is the diode driver (current regulator). If you don't get it, you'll need to get a driver and set it to the appropriate mA. I would suggest spending a bit of time reading the sticky posts. A lot of this information is covered in great detail already. Trust me (being rather new myself), it's the best couple of hours you could spend your time on.

I can only tell you what an aixizi housing is. It looks like in the picture below and it works as a "house" for your laser diode. You need to press the diode in the aixiz module. Also, the focusing ring on the aixiz module is used well, to focus your laser, from a tiny dot to a large circle. You can't use an aixiz module if you want a green laser, because there aren't any hobby green diode available( or they exist but are too uncommon, not sure ). Here is the picture of an aixiz module:

:thanks:thanks for all the help,
I have decided to go with a bluray laser that is already housed in an aixiz housing and a kit from jayrob that will fit it, will post pics once the kit has been ordered and built,
Thanks once again,
Dave
