Who makes the best, f the price, laser pointers?

Screw the cheapest, I want quality. best diodes, best hosts and lenses.

Or in this forum, is this subject all opinion?

I am in the market for a 30mw green to replace the one that I actually burned out. (Yes I did the potentiometer mod on it, but, I did get 10+ years of a 25-30mw toy out of a 5mw laser.) I' also looking for a >100mw 405nm.

Like I said, who makes (THE BEST) laser pointers these days.

One other question, What is the highest powered green that <$1000.00 can buy. One important feature it needs a long on time. I'm not looking for a laser that you have to shut off after a minute. I want to try this for shooting property lines through the low sky at night so you can find the other corner pin.

Did I stress quality enough yet?

My current collection, 350mw green, 1Kw Blue, both have to be shut off after one minute to avoid burnouts. Plus a dead ScopeTronix 5mw green.
 





There are several forum members who make and sell lasers. If you want a 445nm (blue), then you will be able to get one that is 1-3 watts. If you want 405nm (purple/violet), you can get one up to about 800mW, if you really push the diode. As far as high powered greens go, expect to pay a dollar per milliwatt- TheJoker sells 300mW 532nm (green) on his site, SciFilasers. Or, if you really wanted, you could have someone build you a 1 watt green using the new 1watt 520nm diode that came out recently- you can get a diode for 850$. I am sure someone here would do it for you if you really wanted, I certainly won't, simply because I would NOT want to somehow damage a diode that expensive...


Also, you have a kilowatt blue laser? I think you mistyped something :p
 
Laserglow has a selection of 532 handheld in the couple thousand dollars range. The Hercules comes to mind.
 
CNI makes em, laserglow filters em. My answer would be laserglow.

In terms of individuals I would say lazeerer.
 
Pictures of the 1kw blue please, and not just beam shots, please show it vaporizing something or blasting a hole in steel or concrete, etc.
 
CNI as company, lazeerer as individual person (at least for me).

But have you seen their prices? In my opinion it's ridiculous :undecided:

They sell a portable 200mW for upwards of $500. That's just too much even if the quality is exceptional.

Edit: LaserGlow sells them for about the same price ;)

Of all my lasers, my Optotronics 150mW green pen is one of my favorites, and also the most widely used.
It gets almost daily use; it's been going strong for over a year, and still LPM's the same as when I bought it! :)

In my opinion, Optotronics is a company to consider; great quality, super customer service, and Optotronics is in the U.S.
 
Agreed, Optotronics.
I have two of their 150mW's. They may look like cheap eBay pointers but don't be fooled.
The hosts are heavier & have better machine work on the grooves.
The beams are extremely tight & the brightness is ridiculous.
