Hey guys, Just wondering who here's from Australia. If you are, Do you know how I can get lasers/laser parts without them being seized by customs?

Which state are you in? There are quite of us here from Australia.

You can still legally own & import lab-style lasers & parts, just pointers >1mW are illegal to import. Easiest is to bring in the parts and build yourself if you have the skills.

Some members have bought them in described as torches and other things. Luck of the draw with customs though, some here have had them confiscated, maybe I have just been lucky?

If and when you do get one, NEVER carry it in public or point it around outside as that's asking for trouble.

What are you looking for, and what do you want to use it for? Make sure you have appropriate safety glasses too.

of course not, Just wanting one for personal use. Very interesting things they are :P I've PMed you, Awaiting response.

just got a green 100mw and maybe looking at a 1.1w blue
 
Buy it online and take a chance to get it through (does not work with well known laser distributes... as they are on a black list). Otherwise buy the parts and build it your self.
 
if they can see how it goes back together, and it has batteries with it, or common (e.g. double a) batteries, and they can get it to produce a beam, they'll meter it. >1mw = confiscation.

Oh, I'm from NSW as well :P
