Where to find a Transistor?

Hi..
I'm trying to make a nice laser projector with two hard drives, all is almost ok..
I got two transistors to increment the PC sound output, one from a TV Control and the other from my house, but, the second is too weak and i want to get another one but i dont know where to search... Can you tell me any ideas?

No, i mean Transistor
I use it to amplify the signal of the PC.. Right now one transistor is amplifying good, but the other one is amplifying too weak and i want to replace it, but i dont know where to find..

Edit; I found some transistors in a toy, but i seeing what can either amplify

maybe he means an OP-amp WITH a transistor on the output? :thinking: without more details no one can help you Sourcegeek. Maybe buying another transistor with the same name/part number of the one that is 'amplifying good' you can get better results..

You can find op-amps virtually any place electronic parts are sold. If you're outside the US, see if Farnell has the parts you need.

As for how to hook them up, look up transistor amplifiers online for examples.
 
:yabbmad: OK, I almost never post unless I'm going to be of actual help to someone in forums. But, I'm hoping a moderator or at least someone with some actual common sense reads this and understands where I'm coming from. This guy wants to salvage used parts (a specific or similar transistor). For whatever reason (that's really his own business but maybe he really doesn't have a way to buy one or doesn't want to spent the money) he specifically asked the OPPOSITE of where he can buy some! I found this page asking the same question as him on Google. I however have a whole pile of them that I ordered, I was trying to find where to SALVAGE them for a friend.

Almost every response was where he can buy one. IGNORING HIS QUESTION ALL TOGETHER!!

I've seen this a lot on forums lately and doesn't make sense. Not everyone has the money to buy all the parts they need. Every dollar/$.50 part adds up and if you think your helping by posting a link where to buy think again! I think there just trying to increase their number of posts and not actually trying to help anyone. Some perhaps not. I don't know but a few moderators in similar forums are thinking about a penalty point system for those that IGNORE the question and are simply trying to up their post count.

I really like this forum! Until you clean up your house though, this will be one of the last places I actually go for help! Not that you'll miss me, but Im sure you've lost or turned away some good people because of this non-sense!!

If I do fine a convenient place to salvage this transistor Ill be back to let everyone know where.

(Of course I don't mean every member here, but I'm off to a forum with people that can actually listen/read and are there to help.)

:wtf: I found several large and small transistors in a few no-name usb laser mice I had in my scrap pile. I didn't expect to find them in there, I was looking for a capacitor, which I found. As mentioned above glad he found one, I did read that before but meant I'd tell everyone where I found them not where he found his. Not everyone has tons of toys they want to rip apart. I see no reason for me to even comment on the rest.
 
I don't understand what you really expect lukedwards. He comes here asking where to find transistors. How are we to know what kind of scrap electronics he has laying around to try and salvage parts from? Transistors can be in anything, and it's hard to suggest anything particular to search for them in. If he were looking for something like a flyback-transformer, then it might be more appropriate to suggest something like an old CRT monitor, but transistors?

We suggest buying parts because, for most of us, the easiest place to find parts is to just buy them online. Some people don't even realize that you can buy such parts easily and quickly, and think Radio Shack or some dumpy local parts store is the only source of electronic parts they can access. They're extremely cheap and most people don't have access to heaps of scrap electronics to poke around in.

Also, if you don't like the brand of help found at this forum, either contribute your own assistance, or don't let the door hit you on the way out.

If the help the members give out freely here annoys you... perhaps
you should provide better help rather than complain about the logical
help given...
