Herrows! I didn't want to hijack Rathat's thread but also wanted to get some info on where to pick up a cheap multi line argon ion laser, complete with PSU (single phase).

I live in the UK so if anyone over here knows where I can pick one up, I'm looking in the range of around 200-350 (hopeful... eh? )

HappyTomato is selling one that is a bit tired, but it is in your price range.

Check the Buy/Sell/Trade board

Peace,

If the tube was on its way out, is it possible to replace the tube? I'm not going to blow my own trumpet but I'm not daft, can solder and work with small, delicate components :)

These are definitely NOT small delicate components! You will be using wrenches, screwdrivers, and nut drivers to change out a tube.

Yes the tube can be replaced, but they are usually much more expensive than the price of a used laser. These lasers, when new, go for many thousands of dollars. Just to get a tube "refurbished" costs in excess of $2500.00!

I got ONE replacement type tube since I started looking for them. The tube alone cost me $300. Most of the time these are from me searching through used equipment places and getting assorted parts to build one for sale.

I do this for the "hobby" of it, NOT as my job.

Peace,
dave
