I have a 5mw CORE laser from WL. It is my first green laser but I am considering getting one that is significantly more powerful. However I do not just want a bunch of power stuffed in a badly built low quality package. I want something with power and good build quality. I am happy with my 5mw, and consistently surprised at it's power and beam visibility. Any suggestions on other companies? There seems to be a lot of bashing WL around here, so I was wondering why I should not spend the money on another one of their lasers? Thanks so much.

The WL core is one of the few lasers they sell that's probably up to spec. The rest are underpowered and overpriced for what they are. For similar prices, you could buy up to spec lasers of same or greater power...

get a module from o-like.com and build your own laser ;)

I agree with the guys that some of their pointers are under spec. But they do a fine job a tuning their focusing lenses. The beam on my advanced 35mw stays tight for extremely long distances.

It is often concluded that for a lower price that Wickedlasers, you can get a higher quality and higher power laser from www.optotronics.com, www.laserglow.com, or www.novalasers.com. Wickedlasers often advertises the power of their lasers as higher than it actually is, whereas these other companies have lasers that always perform better than advertised.

The WL Core and the Wicked Shades are mostly considered here to be WL's only good products.

Look and dealextreme, compare prices and then you will understand why we don't like them.

DX lasers are good fun for the money, but their quality isn't the best. But yeah, 15mW for $100? a bit steep when you could get an (although more cheaply built) 50mw from ledshoppe and the like. I wouldn't spring for a nova/laserglow/opto laser unless you want more than like 50mw or so in a quality package.

Like if wicked quality was xD i never said DX was the best, but they are the best for the money and beat wicked in everything.

i had one of them. i got it off of ebay for 120 dollars. it is a piece of crap if you are looking for a quality laser, it actualy ran under 70mW and the beam was terrible. so if that one is 70mW for 70$ with 1.6mRad then u could go for an optotronics 30mW pen that has a way smaller beam (more light in smaller area) and it could hit the clouds where as that piece of junk would not be able to.
half the power with a way better beam... i would take 10mW with a divergence of <1.2mRad over a 50mW laser with a divergence of 1.6mRad
i like optotronics because they are made in the USA and the CEO is a person, not a salesperson. he has been very very very good with the emails and helped me make a decision. i just purchased the 150mW green pen style from him. i will post a review of it with pics and vids when i get it and when i have time. optotronics = quality
good luck

93shad, the Optotronics pens are not made in the USA, sorry but they too are made in China, but the company, Optotronics is in the USA, and Jack stands behind the well QC'd products which he sells! I hate it when a laser has to go back to China, and then, eventually, you (hopefully), get the replacement! (scopeguy zips it!) -GH

For greenies, I personally recommend dragonlasers.com. I ordered the viper 125mW, and I've been in love with it since I got it.

Mark -- I recently got a 150 mW laser from Wicked. It included a power graph.
I tested it and my graph almost matches his but is about 5 mW higher - and for 30 seconds longer! Stay tuned.....
