Hi to every one! I'm new in this forum, I'm an 19yo italian laser fun
Ok i'm italian so my English is not very good

I was looking for a mid power IR laser diode (about 500mw)
to do some engraving on wood and obviously some burning

I have read in this forum that CNI lasers are good
but I have 2 questions:

- is $60 a good price?
- what means TE polarization?

TE == transverse electric. It's one of the two possible polarizations for these type of diodes. The other being transverse magnetic.

Can't really say on the price. Others here will chime in on that. I know that the price varies a lot by the quality for the 808nm diodes. Depending on what you are doing you make need the higher quality.

Keep in mind that 808nm is the LEAST eye safe of pretty much any laser. Get the correct eye protection and always use it.
