What diode?

I pulled two diodes out of an old 16x lg cd drive. What are the pin layouts on these? Same as the lpc diodes? Would like to know their power and recommended amperage. Thanks for the help.

300~350mA in an aixiz with 45s/45s duty.. if u can heatsink them then at 350mA they will give you just about 200mW

Pinout is same as lpc..

I have a heat sink. Are both of them 650nm and that power output? The other one doesn't have numbers on the back like that one but pretty much looks the same.

They look the same, one is IR , it is not visible.. and one is red..

You could use the ir in some ghetto dpss setup and i think the ir may be nore powerful

Ok so I connected it up and it seems way underpowered, could it be the ir one but i just see the IR?

And there you go... IR looks really low power and it is actually high power. Not good for your eyes. :(

IR is nearly or out of our visual range some people can see a faint beam because there eyes are more sensitive

The light from both diodes looks red. One is 660nm red and the other is 780nm IR. I still see this light as dim red.

Try looking at it through a cellphone camera or something similar. If it's IR it'll look pinkish white in the camera; if it still appears red then it's a 650 nm.
