I hope like hell that they had safety glasses on while making that video; they were shining that laser around every damn reflective thing in that house! :eek:
 
That's a cool video, Andrew, I wonder where that was recorded?
I can't hardly believe how bright that was, the snow was literally glowing, as if someone had a giant 532nm reflecting off of everything!

It seems like someone photo shopped it to get a more dramatic and better view of the aurora. It was still a very good watch.
 
I noticed his Instagram post regarding the matter. Not good! :(
I hope he gets past this. Youtube need to sort out their priorities.
 
I have heard so many bad things about YouTube lately. So “politically correct” it just might be the death of them. :thinking:

I too hope he gets passed this. Really enjoy his videos. Would be a great loss if the banned him. Hoping the best.
 
Meh, for many young people, YouTube is a way to become famous for doing what most of us do everyday. I spend much of my time explaining how things work, but don't feel the need to try to get "followers" and "subscribers" to give me my 15 minutes of fame. I'd rather remain anonymous as much as possible. I've found a great many YouTube producers to be less than informed about the subjects they are reviewing. It is a silly desire to be famous even if it is for nothing more substantial than their opinions. Everyone has opinions. Often times they are misinformed opinions. But, being seen in a video is a pull that kids today want so badly it is a celebration of mediocrity.
 
The longer the time difference between the pulse train markers the further the distance, time to go out and come back.

So the device sees it's reflected pulse train and matches it against it's outgoing pulse train and measures the difference, the longer the time to go out and come back the further the distance.

The device looks for the Doppler effect in case the target is moving or a leaf falls in the path and also uses the average of several comparisons of the outgoing vs. incoming pulse train to give a more accurate reading, it also is designed to avoid interference from similar devices.

What are you trying to make it do if I may ask ?

It's not the length of the pulse, it's the time between when it's sent and received, the unit acts as a comparator measuring how far the sent and received pulse width are out of sync.

For instance, lets say a single pulse width is equal to 2000 miles, so it detects that the sync of the received pulse width is 1/10,000 of that pulse width out of sync with the generated pulse width's as it averages many samples, so 1/10,000of a pulse width is 1/5 of a mile, or 1056 feet or 350 yards.

Do you just want to drive the diode in short duration pulses ? Would the diode take a 1% pulse width at 150KHz? How much current does it take to drive the diode? I don't think you will get much out with such a very short pulse, it won't even pop a balloon.
