We probably need some longer test runs. I generally get a couple of good runs out of these before they break down.

That is how a few of these have ended up in the hands of customers.
They tested fine for up to 4-minutes in their initial tests.
Then they failed within days of getting into the customers' hands :(

Do you just want to just send me a couple of the modified ones to test? I have several Kryton barrels around here ;)

I've looked at this work around and it seems to be a valid work around. Although some testing is warranted. I will be doing a modification myself using some of the silicone wire and see if that adds some flexibility to the switch. I've looked at a few of the other switches available and all of teh ones I've taken apart also have the same small spring inside, so would probably fail the same way.

I don't want folks to think I'm ignoring this issue. I've at one point and time created a thread offering a free barrel to the finder of a suitable replacement and there were a few good suggestions but sadly nothing that worked. I've spent about $100 purchasing switches to find a replacement. :(

I had forgotten all about that thread. If I had remembered it, it might have saved me some confusion and frustration. I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out why the drivers were overheating! The symptoms of this switch's failure mimic that so well (until it completely failz anyway ;) ).

Actually I just tried some wire without any insulation at all (not needed anyway),
and it works much smoother than the first I did.
You wouldn't even notive any difference in the action, compared to stock.
The insulation doesn't do anything other than taking up space and hinder
the clicking action.

I just did this modification although I have to say that superglue doesn't work that well for putting it back together. I will be using fast dry epoxy.

This used the silicone wire and works pretty well. Testing thus far shows that the thing is capable of handling 5A before it starts to heat up. Now this is a direct test, not in a barrel so I dont' know how this will handle with long runs in this environment.

The thread with teh offer is still out there and if I have enough I will still offer it, although it has to be a direct replacement I can purchase directly.
 
Cool. You might wanna remove the insulation altogether, it doesn't serve any purpose
other than obstructing the switches action.

Since it is the same switch with beefed up internals, it is a direct replacement.
You can buy them directly from me, if you like! I'll be making a big batch or two of these.:)
Does that qualify?:D

Hey Kenom just checking in on your progress.
So Will you be modifying all the switches like this?
Also once the engraving is done ,are you all set to go with the anodizing?

those barrels came back un-engraved and there is no way that they can be engraved at all. so the ones that are bare polished are not going to be engraved. The setup is done as you can see, and I have attempted to start, and run into another thing I need to "get" or "fix" in order to actually start anodizing. I'm workin on it though so you'll see them start rollin soon. Those that are bare will be being shipped within the week.
