So I've been working on a spirograph and I can't seem to get power to my motors through the dpdt switches and potentiometers. I have led's before the motors that work fine however the motors have no voltage going to them which is puzzling me.

Sorry for the mess the switches are pretty much wired with + and - in the mid two pins with the outer pins being connected with the wires crossed to the opposite pins diagonal to them.
And the pots are just wired with the positive wire going into the middle pin and out of the left to the motor.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but on my spiro I put the pots before the switches

I'm guessing it's either a cold solder joint or an error in my thinking of how it should be hooked up.

It's all the motors I get like 0.01v on all of them.

Not sure if it helps but I'm running the three motors in parallel from one set of batteries at 3v so all the switches + and - inputs are connected

Ya its probibly a cold solder some of those joints look iffy ( not outing down your soldering skills;) )

haha it's fine XD my skills are pretty bad. I'll redo the switches seeing as that's where the voltage seems to drop. Although would having the led before the motor drop the voltage leading to the motor having none?

Well I'm no genius in electronics but the leds should just drop the current not voltage

Ok that's what I thought. And the resistors before the leds should only affect current also.

Ok thanks. I think I'll try to set up a simulation motor with an extra switch and potentiometer to see if I hooked it up wrong.

i think i figured it out i went and played with my spiro and i measure 333mv when the resistance was to the point where the motor wouldnt run i dont know why but it did:confused::confused:

looking at your pics there is no +v on the switch as in the first pic ,just a wire going to your led

What is the total current you are getting from your power supply?
