Sony SLD1239JL-54 diode oddity...

Folks - evidently, NONE of the SLD1239JL-54 diodes I have sold have windows in them ! On the bad side of that, one would think they were "seconds" handed off since Sony didn't want windowless diodes... on the Good side of it, the less you have in your optical pathway, the less power will be absorbed by the lenses, and more power output !

In all honesty - I have had no issues with them - an very few reports of issues from customers...

I will be updating my site tomorrow with all of this info, Just wanted to speak out and let everyone that I have sold 700 of these bad boys now, and this is the first time it has been noticed (I didn't THINK to look at the lens ) So - full disclosure ! My vendor has offered to replace the final 100 I have in my hands now, but he would have to open every tray he receives prior to sending them...I'd like to gather the thoughts of all of you that have bought, and will buy these diodes - what do you think ?

Replace, and possibly find out that Sony sends them out that way ? Or deal with it the way it is ! I'll post a poll - but if you are not a diode customer, please do not vote, okay ? Thanks !

Note - I would not be able to replace ones that have already been sent out - he will only replace them in quantities of 100 at this time.... I have 130 in stock at present.

My computer has never seemed to like the fact I gave it windows - I figure I can live with windowless diodes, just don't start putting mac OS in the optical pathway and I should be fine. Dunno about your other customers though... I hear its a very controversial topic

Once they are in a module and with a lens, there's no dust or pollution problems. These are burners.

To be honest I think they were all this way.  windowless.  it's a characteristic that sets the old one's we were getting apart from these.  I've had no issues one way or another with these diodes and they are more powerful.  so LEAVE THEM BE.

It should be mentioned that the 20x burners don't have windows either. don't have cans but who's pickin nits.

Well, since ALL of them have no windows, there is no way to tell how much power is gained by not having them - there is no Delta to work with !

It has been made known to me by the distributor that NONE of them have windows - so he will not be replacing perfectly good diodes with perfectly good diodes Waste of expensive shipping ! Anyways - thanks for the input, folks - and the continued support, as always ! YOU GUYS ROCK ! BTW - I THINK I figured out the issue with Google Checkout not accepting the coupon (finally)

you need to get an SSL certificate for coupons to work with google checkout, its an issue with the API callback handler requiring use of the production https://shop.stonetek.org/googlecheckout/responsehandler.php .. its an https site so it must have an SSL cert to be able to go to https. you could use the sandbox mode with google checkout and the coupons would work but the sandbox is for testing only and you wouldn't be able to process any payments.

I tried to get a SSL certificate but my webhost doesn't support them. I've done some research on this and most webhosts either don't allow SSL certs or require you to buy theirs for like $100 a year, where as other sites sell them for $15 a year.

I said keep them as is even though mine haven't arrived yet. :
But as pointed out, once they're closed up in a module there should be no issue with them being open.

And stop attacking OS X! I'm using a MacBook and I love it! ;D
I don't do much computer gaming and that's my only draw to Windows right now, and if I change my mind, Parallels here I come!

That is very, very, odd ! I have not seen any incidents due to the lack of a window - perhaps that is one reason why they perform so dang well ? According to Mike's chart - they give the long open cans a run for their money with the correct current pushed through them {And they do not need harvesting ! Wooo-hoo !}

just continuing on with the Mac vs Windows humor, and that was a Computer-nerd joke, (which was most likely now killed) I didn't expect everyone to understand it.

But one question, the D and the DBK's, are they both 20x Burners? I mean, one is open can, one is windowless, but if both drives are 20x they should put out around the same power.
