I'm guessing 5 to 8 years ago this would be huge news on this forum.,
No one seems to care about lithimums anymore as all the availible Chinese lasers take basically "18650's" or "14500's"

There is the rare post of "will this 3A battery be ok with this laser" but that it to me at least.

Well, there are also forces at work behind it all, Lithium America Corp and others have a vested interest and by virtue of current mass production lithium is cheaper to use at the moment, lithium has also been refined to achieve the highest performance, but much of the battery manufacturing is in China and sodium ion will be less expensive to make once production is up and running, so once supply costs come down, we will see refinement.

Sodium ion is safer too, so right now we are seeing special purpose cells, such as for racing cars/motorcycles, still the roll-out seems to be moving a little slowly, likely due to startup production costs, time will tell.
