Safety Glasses Sufficient?

I recently put together a Blu-ray laser using these instructions: I-Hacked.com Taking Advantage Of Technology - Building a High-Power Blu-Ray Laser

I have some regular safety glasses (not laser glasses) that seem to block out a lot of the light. The laser can light a match in less than 3 seconds when focused properly, but when shining through the glasses, a match won't even smoke. When wearing the glasses, the reflection off of a white sheet of paper is weaker, manageable even, but still damn bright.

Might these glasses be protective enough?

No, not at all. Grab a pair of goggles from Radiant Electronics, they're OD2.5 and should protect you fine, they're also <$30 shipped. I say should because I can't remember offhand what they cover, but I know they'll take 1W 445 down to 5mW or so.

Not very, if at all. You're more likely to see fluorescence from the surface you're pointing it at than the dot itself.

I checked Radiant Electronics and their Radiantshades are out of stock. Anywhere else I might be able to find a good price with shipping? I live in Hawaii, so shipping prices are usually a crime.
