Hi LPF!!!!

I'm really new to flashlights, but I just need one HELL of a strong one. I heard something called CREE, but I have not an idea about it. I just want a really good flashlight. I really dont want to spend 50$.

Thansk Guys!

Cree is a brand name. They have MANY different models

Peace,
dave

**EDIT** Search for all the threads stared by "erns" He has done quite a few reviews of flashlights here

You're not gonna get a high-quality $40 LED light. I would definitely say go with a magmod. Mag623 is most recommended.

If you really want LED for some reason, try Eagletac, Jetbeam, Dereelight, and Tiablo, which are all great brands. DX is decent if you want a cheap light on a low budget, but if you do, get a 2x 18650. All single battery SSCs are direct drive, so the light will decrease as the light goes on.

Oh, almost forgot. This is extremely helpful: http://fonarevka.lux-rc.com/

Go fenix-or,depending on what you need it for you could get a maratac. I EDC a maratac AAA and it's great, only $20 for 80 lumens off an AAA.

Don't get Fenix! I know a lot of people love them, as their favorite brand even, but they are pretty much Jetbeams made a lot cheaper...

no way... I feel confident 90% of the people on CPF will disagree with you, they are very unrelated, their stats are over exaggerated(they claim 500 yard range on a 240 emitter lumen light), and there's a reason very few people have jetbeams. I've never had a problem with my fenix even after dropping, sinking and hitting it many times.

I got this one for my Dad for his last brithday... its the brightest one I've yet seen. It has an impressively clean spot. It's so bright, it hurts to look at the LEDs even from the sides! I highly recommend it.

5mm LEDs output 3lm or so. That makes it a ~300lm light, which isn't bad, but there are brighter lights out there for less. Even a DX P7 2x18650 for example tosses out 900 lm or so for around $40.

DX lights are a great choice if you don't care too much about quality. I'd go for that.

I have to agree with randomlugia, Fenix lights are meh. :can:

If you want lots of jaw dropping light go with a Mag "hot wire" mod. I know I have a few bi-pin slugs, bulbs (1274 and 1185's) and battery adaptors laying around if you are interested.

of course flashlights are gonna have problems... who cares with the lifetime warranty? On top of that, these are from the very first search page on CPF for "fenix".

these are all positive reviews, I didn't even include the neutral reviews. That many positive reviews without a single negative is impressive.
