Post Count decreasing...

I have just noticed that my post count has decreased by three posts in the past couple of days.

I havn't looked through all of my posts but I can't think of a reason why any of them would be deleted. (I usually always post neutral or positive posts)

This bothers me some because I was over 100 posts, and now I am back down to 99 posts.

I was hoping someone could explain why this is happening. Maybe because old threads are being deleted and the posts go with them? I also thought that even if a thread is deleted the posts still count towards their users?

Thanks for helping me out! ;)

Did you post in the Arctic threads? They've been deleted and undeleted repeatedly the past few days.

Welcome to the club, bub. I lost 65 - and honestly, it was from early on in June when discussions of the Arctic were legit...

Best thing to do I guess is just not to pay a lot of attention to post count really and don't worry about it. I know everyone's vying for "vet" status, but from what I understand, there's nothing incredible behind those gates.

That, and, while all vets have 1000 posts, 1000 posts does not a vet make. I don't plan to ask for the password (or 'status') when I hit 1k. If folks want me in there, they'll let me know. In the big scheme of things, I'm still relatively new. There are people who could shoot up to 1000 posts in a month, others, it may take years, and when it comes down to it, the respect you get is based on what you contribute to the forum.

Not postcount.

aryntha is 100% right.

A 3 post difference is not significant at all... even if they were good and helpful posts. In an effort to cut the clutter, some of the good posts had to go to.

And hey, don't worry about post count. Its been decided that if you prove yourself contributory, you'll be let into all kind of places.

But really, there's not much that's special back there. There are maybe 10-15 active vets on LPF.

Hey Everyone, thanks for letting me know what is going on.

I have posted in the Arctic threads, and I found out that is where I lost them.

Postcount really doesn't matter to me (just a little...I like to see my posts go up one everytime I post :D). But what really matters is increasing my knowledge in this laser hobby and hopefully contributing back to this community when I can.

And I like to know if posts I have made in the past are still available to see or not.
The ones I lost aren't a big deal, it is just good knowledge to have.

Thanks again for letting me know whats going on Prototype, aryntha, and Meatball.

I appreciate it! :yh:

Not sure what is going on with the Arctic threads, I think there is a bit of contradiction going on behind the scenes.

But like others have said, post count doesn't mean anything. I've been here for over 3 years now, and have maybe 1/2 the post count of others (Or 1/5 if we are talking about Dave ;) )

Cheers,
Dan

Well... Now I feel special that two of the moderators decided to leave their two cents. :yh: Thanks for responding phoenix and Things, it is nice to have your opinions.

I am glad that most people like substance rather than amount of posts, I'll work on that from now on!

if post count went down its b/c u posted in a thread that got deleted , it must have had serious ToS violations in it somewhere

i rarely delete threads

Nothing to fret about your post count will go back up when you start posting again, and what them other guys said

As you said viperx1101, Things & I were just putting in our $00.02. In my case, that's about all I have on most days.............lol

My 3 year anniversary is coming up soon...I've got some more posting to do if I ever want to catch up.

And personally, as far as my feelings about such things, I take particular pride in my reputation-to-postcount ratio, and I'm not too concerned about that either. I'm here for the fun of it and the learning, glad most others seem to be as well.

if anyone lost posts and is worried it will make reaching vet status slower, just email me atarasov at hushmail.com

i can still give u the vet password if u are like 50 or 100 below 1000 posts and were effected by this problem (which i am guessing is related to old threads being deleted ; however, i haven't deleted anything for a long time actually)

if anyone is especially bothered by this i can manually update your post counter (but pleaes be honest and only email me about this if u truly lost post)

note: i could be slow to process this if a million ppl email me but it doesnt look like this happened to that many ppl

have fun
peace

Wow, that's cool Ave. If I have lost any, I won't miss it because anything from that extremely bloated Arctic thread is worth dumping for bandwidth/storage integrity. :)

Hi, Avery ..... i calculated that, from all those posts "ups and downs", all the users of the forum must have lost at least 0,74 posts each one ..... can you please manually correct all the post counters, adding 0,74 posts to each user ?

(J/K, ofcourse ..... :p   )
