Trumps Tariff's on China are a joke. The Chinese are probably having a good laugh.

Lets impose a 140% Tariff on Chinese Imports then make most items exempt from the Tariff.


What I have been able to find so far. These items, and probably more are exempt from the 140% Tariff.

Mobile Phones
Computers
Electronic Goods.
Semiconductors.


Exactly what does the 140% Tariff apply too ?... Import a Banana and it's got 140% Tariff on it !

Obviously he can't put 140% Tarif on all goods imported from China because that would destroy the US Economy. Can you imagine what would happen if all electronic goods imported into the US Suddenly jumped up 140% in price. Inflation would be insane.


Exports from China into the US is a small percentage of what they export to the rest of the world. Like Paul said, China doesn't need the US exports. They will survive quite well without them. Can the the US survive without the Chinese Imports ?

Chinese cities are struggling, stores are closing, factories are shut down, merchandise is held up, the Chinese workers are broke and protesting.

Soon we could see some temporary shortages here, but it will be much worse for China, they NEED our business, it's some 20% of their economy.

Yes there is a tariff on Chinese made electronics, you don't see a price increase yet because of something called warehouses, they are big buildings that hold lots of stuff.

China and the US can survive without any trade, but there will be an adjustment period, however I expect a deal will be made.... if not then we will have an adjustment period, but resellers are already working on replacement suppliers from non-Chinese sources, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, ect....

It will NOT destroy the US economy, how you can be so stupid as to think it wouldn't effect China at all, yet would destroy the US economy, the US economy is 27.7 Trillion USD GDP and China's is 17.7 Trillion USD GDP......... you're ignorance is truly astounding.

China will make a deal or they will continue to sneak their goods in through other nations only without any " made in China " stickers to avoid tariffs, but that is an additional cost for China and could end, so they will make a deal, the only question is how long will they take ?

Mountain Pass produces 15% of the WORLDS rare earth minerals..... not 1% and they have just invested heavily in increasing output which was 45,000 metric tons, US reserves are 1.9 MILLION metric tons.

Ukraine signed Trumps minerals deal.

Brazil, Australia, Vietnam all have significant rare earth mineral reserves, we don't need China, China needs us.

Brazil has enormous rare earth reserves and is already stepping up.
