I just read the "my laser makes a red dot" post too.
I must say that's a pretty cool effect, no matter who's post it is.
 
You should really try this with your laser! All you need is a short FL lens like this AixiZ acrylic.
 
Yep. i posted a tiny guide on how to do this in the original thread, but basically:

Get a laser 80mw >, and adjust the lense so the dot is smallest AS CLOSE to the lense as possible. Put it on a table, in a room with MINIMAL airflow. Now grab a dark coloured texta/marker, and put the tip right where the dot is smallest. let it smoke for a little bit, then slowly move it UP. You should see a TINY little red spec floating where the marker was, maybe even 3 or 4 specs!

It seems to be pretty consistant.

One thing, try not to be holding the laser in your hand, since the heat from your hand rises and can cause it to just get blown out immediately.

You need to focus it really close! Focus your laser to infinity, (you know what I mean) and if you have an acrylic lens, just put it on top like what I did!
 
i just tried it with my 200mw red DX.... i put a glass lens in it n burnt the sharpie.... lasted about 23 seconds
