The one pictured here has been sold, and I only have one more of these 'hard to come by', 1st run barrels to build!

* PHR-803T blu-ray diode.
* Kryton barrel by Kenom.
* FlexDriver by Lava. (set at 90mA's) Some are running these diodes HOTTER, I've got my Leadlight blu-ray running at 145mA's and it is doing fine:

* Powered by 2 X 3.0 volt Lithium primaries.
* You can expect between 80mW's to 90mW's at this current. (AixiZ acrylic lens - plastic cut away)

The excellent driver by Lava, is held in a sturdy position by some 'quick set epoxy putty'. Which will come off easy enough if the LD should ever need to be replaced.

Normal garage lighting, with some smoke.

I have left the aperture cap and o-rings off, and will include them for the buyer to install if desired. I personally like the aperture cap installed. But it makes focussing a little more tricky...you have to use a toothpick or a small screw driver with the aperture cap installed.

My personal preference for the o-rings, is not to have them installed. (I like to tighten the end caps metal to metal, and tighter than the rubber o-rings allow - just to make sure of a good connection, as the negative battery current travels through the threads)

Using lithium primaries, mean that the laser can sit for months, and not lose charge.
These drivers are the best! (not cheap, but worth every penny)
These barrels are the best! (but very 'scarce and hard to get')

Very slick beauty there Jay. I will love to see the culmination of this first run with everyone's pictures of all the beautiful lasers they build. (that's a hint that you need to post this badboys beam shots in the thread!! ) LOL

Who ever buys this awesome blu-ray barrel, will also get these two Fusion driver kits. I got them from Kenom but won't be using them. I thought they were going to be completed. Now that I am onto the FlexDrivers from Lava, I will be using those for the barrels...

Jay-Ken - where did youse guys pick up those zippy anti-static baggies ? (are they anti-static type?) the electronics store wants $.06 more EACH baggie for zippable closure - and that adds up fairly fast

they aren't antistatic.  Just basic baggies.  I got roughly 1000 of them for $5

Hey man...I didn't mean it that way. I didn't think these drivers were even going to materialize! It's just that there are a couple of very small components in there. Maybe too small for my skills. I'm very happy with making the DDL drivers. And or course, using the excellent FlexDrives.

I want to tell you Ken, I like those barrels so much, that I feel like I still owe you money for them! ;D

well you can pay the remaining $$$ to the get ken a cnc mill/lathe financial freedom project if you want.  That way we could have barrels whenever we want them instead of waiting for the manufacturer.

Truly these are very easy to solder.  I mean the 1117 is 4 pins and the pot is 3.  both can be done with a typical radio shack soldering iron.  I did some with a hot air gun with the boards sitting on a cookie sheet.  Heated the bottom side of the cookie sheet and waited for the solder to melt.  woulda worked great if I hadn't of tried soldering the through the hole components in that fashion as well and cooked the board from too much heat.  anyway from the bottom side there's no air flow to worry about knockin yor components loose with and it does heat it pretty quickly so you only have to do it for a few minutes and viola your done.

The thing I like about these drivers is how easy they are to assemble, are adjustable, work for both bluray and red with only one resistor swap and are pretty efficient.  I'm sure that they will catch on once people get a chance to use them.  I love them.  Now they aren't as good as the lava drive but still very good.  In my opinion they rival the DDL.

Anyway. Threadjack complete. This laser is a Kick ass laser and anyone who doesn't get it is passing on an opportunity for a Saweeeeeet laser.

Thanks for the plug about the laser. It really is a VERY NICE laser. If I didn't have a couple to keep, there would be no way I would sell it.

I understand that the version 2 barrels will be drilled out larger? For an 18650?

That should be nice too. But IMO, these version 1 barrels are better because you can use the lithium primaries!

There aren't enough of the version 1 barrels available! In fact, I would like to buy any available version 1 barrels that people would be willing to sell...

Actually they will work off both primaries and 18650's. The only major difference between an 18650 and a pair of cr123's is obviously voltage (which for the fusion drive isn't an issue) and physical dimensions. The cr123 is slighly smaller but essentially the same length. So lets go for a universal design. Both batteries fit, if you don't want the rattle walmart sells sheets of 3mm thick foam, pad the barrel and your golden.
