Greetings,

Was just talking to my good friend Rick Trent and he has already gone passed the R&D and going to move into production of a 10 diode host. This is designed such that you can start with as many as 10 modules at a time or just one. You can add a module as you can afford it.

Rick has placed a post for it. Here that is.....
<circumventing the B/S/T guidelines>

You know I have mine on order..... :gun:

Cheers,
Moe

I have a feeling that aligning this will be worse than aligning a 473nm...

Edit: assuming they're going to form one beam. Having 10 beams come out might be a bit weird :p

How big? :D Sounds interesting, I don't quite get what's going on from the description though, any pictures?

About time when someone drops the handheld and you have cubes everywhere! Not being a hater but there's got to be a better way to hold the cubes than glueing..
Knife edging is the only option i could recommend but that wont be a handheld.. anyhow! I'm not the expert as rick maybe, He's really pushing his limits and may aswell achieve what he's trying to do.. Good luck , and subscribed!

Greetings,

I have not yet seen the setup but he did mention he plans on using the Nerf Vortex Praxis as the host.
I will see if he has any pics and if there are will post them.

I'm gonna be the skeptic in the room. Lets define "hand held" I also don't see diameter. And all kinds of talk of tons of modules.... 48 modules??? I don't see how adding length will solve issue. You need PBS, wave plates, knife edging. Pics or didn't happen

Michael

Lessee now, 72 modules x 2.5 watts = 180 watts. Gonna need some bigger batteries and some goggles. But seriously, is there any reason for this besides, "coz I can"? I can't think of many practical uses and it seems a little much for entertainment. And hand held? Yeah, if you don't count the diehard in your backpack.

But yeah, I want one.

Gotta take into account the power loss from combining beams. A lot of that will be lost in the real world :p

Also, if there's really 72 modules in that, I'd get a better duty cycle from my argon on "high" with the fans shut off

Well, what the heck..why not. I'm gonna build a 20-diode, knife-edged laser rifle, and power the thing with jumper cables from a fleet truck!

I share your skepticism even though I spoke to him about it a few hours ago. He has surprised me in the past and wouldn't doubt he has something interesting. I hope he will make some pics available.

I have asked several times which "deep cell marine battery" he plans to use and I consistently get no where near that is necessary, and the power source will fit into the host.

I am nowhere near the expert and am just being a messenger. <stop advertising this for him -- 2nd warning>
