No, you could get these instead: Eagle Pair® 190-540nm Standard Laser Safety Goggles but they are not nearly as good, OD4, not OD6 like the others and only $7 less.

$50 is definitely the floor for good, quality glasses. You will probably spend more than that. I got mine here , They will block all lasers up to 532nm and have been extremely useful so far.

Jesus just watch that thing i had 2 pairs of googles on with my 3 watt 445 and i set the toilet paper cardboard on fire cause i had it out of focus and it was focused on the cardboard i was trying to move it away and I was like why do I still smell a burning smell after i turned it off. I just threw it in the toilet quick.

7watt will burn ALOT faster. Don't get skin caught in the beam EVER. Don't let it hit any non metal object you value

glass reflects 5-10% of light FYI.

I have something i would like to clear up. Today i was burning wood with a 1.3 watt blue laser. I had a friend with me we were both wearing safety glasses. The laser was being turned off and on lots. Twice after it was off, when I turned it on again, my friend do not have glasses on yet. The dot was on darker wood, and it was focused. The viewing of the dot was only for about 1 second(at the most) We were sitting down, so the viewing distance was short, maybe 3 feet. Should i worry about this?

No not for only 1 second but I wouldn't be doing that regularly. I have a 1.5W blue and have viewed the dot without glasses at 3 feet or less and it is too bright to look at. If you see pink squiggly ~ lines after or spots for 10 seconds or more then you are probably pressing your luck. When you get up to 3W or more you best be careful, the dot is too bright to look at when that close.

BE SURE you get side shields or wrap arounds- several wearers got zapped by the INSIDE their goggles- comes by your ear- and bounces into your eye and 7 W as SO dangerous-- be careful..

yes, i agree i need to be more careful. Today i was sitting on my bed, screwing on the tailcap and it was on. I got exposed to the dot on a beige pillow at about 2 feet for just a split second before I shut it off. The exposure was out of only the corner of my eye. A;so, i have a bad habit of accidently very briefly hitting ht beam with my finger when using the laser outside, and accidently shone the laser very close to a houses window. I am to used to lower power levels, I Will try to be more careful from now on. I can see just how easy an accident could occur.

Maybe you should put away the 1watter and use something weaker until you've built up better safety habits..
