Looking for help | Legitness of a diode

I'm missing the equipment and the knowledge on how to build a laser frankly.

...Then why are you asking if this laser diode is legit?

Seller has good feedback, so it's probably fine. It'll be 400 hours of use in a video projector I imagine, i.e. not being pushed hard.

Asking so that i can use it after i learn.

Hi,
Looks like a used A140 / 445nm /5.6 mm diode , You can get better on the internet for a few bucks more.
Rich:)

Yes, these are used diode pulled from projectors. It has been awhile since these diodes were used in a new projector, so the amount of use is anyone's guess. You could do much better getting an unused diode, though it would cost you a bit more. There is no hurry to buy this particular diode as these kinds of sales pop up on eBay all the time. Learn about how to use laser diodes first. Then start looking for one that meets your needs.

Looks like a collectors item, I wouldn't buy if you're going into building new.
I also personally dont risk used emitters because of potential previous-owner-abuse, but at that price you cant go wrong.

Up to you, however our resident friend has plenty of current market diodes if you wanted new ones:

Slightly more than $9 though.
