looking for a laptop

my buddy is looking for a laptop(good condition) thats fairly new but he doesnt care if its used or not. he only wants it to check email and do a few things online so it doesnt have to be top of the line... hes looking at spending ~600$ for what he wants but relying on me to find a decent enough deal for him. anyone have any they would offer for sale?

check out Dell, Gateway and Buy.com

I always pick up a refurbished computer because it has full warranty and a great discount

Seriously, tigerdirect.com has incredible prices AND support - plus they have been selling Gateway refurbs in the 2gb dual core, 3-4gb ddr2, 320gb hard drives, etc etc for $450-550 shipped with a warranty direct through Gateway lately, give them a look!

I love my Samsung NC10 Netbook. Zippy little thing and a great bang for the buck (~$480 at Buy.com) . I do not miss the dvd drive... If I need to install software, I simply load the image with an USB Flashdrive and mount it with Daemon Tools. The NC10 is about the size of a portable dvd player with an excellent size keyboard. I upgraded to 2Gig Ram for $25 from Crucial Memory.
