laser being hot batteries

My cheap DX green laser, actually is being hot my batteries, and consuming all the charge of the batteries. Is my laser dead?
 





With freshly charged batteries.... does your Laser lase...:thinking:

How about a link to your DX Laser and a picture of the
writing on your batteries...

Sounds kinda like the spring on the base of the driver is shorting the Batteries to the case. open er up, pull the batterier out, look down the barrel at the spring to see that it is or is not touching the barrel (inside od the case). If it is, try to push it away from the barrel with something like a pencil, and/or try to insert a rolled sheet of paper between spring and barrel. Might not be the problem, but is a common problem with cheap pointers...

Actually had that happen with a cheap greenie. Batteries got very hot, very fast. One loop of electrical tape around the inside of the barrel, where the spring is, solved the problem.
 
Yeah... that Laser should not be pulling any current
near what it would take to force the batteries to
get hot..

You could also roll a small piece of paper that just fits
in the laser housing to insulate the inside of the barrel
from touching the spring...
Be sure the insulator is thin or you may have problems
removing the batteries..

Solved!!

I put eletrical tape around the spring, and now the laser is perfect! Ready to burn everything! lol
