Is a heatsink needed for a 1.8A driver?

This is the driver i want to use for my M-type M140 diode(link bellow). my question is do i need a heatsink? since i know i gotr the 1.5A version and it may have overheated or possibly from physical damage. But thats beside the point. Does this driver need a heatsink?? Thanks a lot for any help!

Note: Its set to 1.8A

Hi,
Yes heat sink the IC and you don't need a lot of thermal adhesive going out all over , nice and clean . M140+ 1.8A driver =heat sink.. Good luck with your build Pal..

PI doesn't recommend it but i heat sink 1.8A and over. PI is correct though you don't really need to but thats just what i do and some don't . Its a personal choice thats all.

I basically heat-sink everything now whether I need to or not. I evendors add a little sink on the fasttech 532nm modules I get. It can only be a good thing unless you short something out or make it too big to fit into a module

I sink everything to 1.8A and over like the go one step further thing. Hey it can't hurt one bit.

Yes i agree about posting twice , mind you he's still green so to speak. We will teach him well He just starting but still a good idea to make him aware.Remember when we first started and did something off color and got hammered for it LOL...
