I'm not sure if this has been shared on LPF yet but searching didn't bring this video up - so here's a little something I found online today......

he has a few grand worth of lasers i could do the same with a hammer i picked up from the thrift store for 50 cents  what a waste of money just think he could of put that 600$ towards saving lives but no...:na:

True, imagine one of those 2W 445nm's if WL 1W severely underspec burnt it the 2W+ would put a hole right through it lol

2W? That's nothing :shhh:. I'd like to see a CO2 laser, or a IR diode bar melt this sucker :eg:

Well this was interesting, I was curious to see who'd say what about this & honestly thought there'd be more fanboy backlash from the apple folks against this post because some of you might know I cant stand apple culture. Despite my personal opinion I had no intention to disrespect apple & I'm glad this wasn't misinterpreted that way :)

I personally find this demonstration repulsive & fascinating at the same time on two completely different levels & here's why. The repulsive feeling comes from watching a piece of modern technology reflecting the 'latest & greatest' of our current time being wastefully destroyed. I think the 'will it blend?' culture/meme with todays new products is ridiculous & I see no pleasure or gain watching something great like this pointlessly destroyed, regardless of how it's done.

Contradictorily (and this why I know Im crazy) I also see this as awesome because (1) I use lasers artistically and I see this artistic, creative and somewhat original. If you find this pointless, wasteful, or simply don't understand why it was done - that is half the concept of creating art to me. A lot of people won't understand this & I believe art isn't meant to be understood by everyone, part of what makes art what it is. Secondly, someone has taken the initiative here to make such an expensive display of two completely unrelated advanced technologies to pair them up in a duel against each other. Again somewhat creative, but instead of destroying an ipad with a baseball bat, golf club, a gun or whatever - someone chose to use some high powered lasers, created a stage and filmed the whole thing for our entertainment. That is pretty awesome in my book & has pushed me as far as posting this, and then trying to explain myself

^That's why we let other people do it and we watch gleefully from the safety of our computer desk.

I sort of wish these people would roast some of the koolaid-drinkin' apple fanboys with their fatty lasers and film that. I'd watch.. :eg::lasergun: I wonder what fun chemical compounds that would produce?

Carbon. Some Calcium. A little bit of phosphorus.

Maybe if we're lucky a little bit of lead. :D :D :D
