Hi I just ordered a laser from lazerer. A 200mw red and the tracking now says "inbound into customs". Before that it was in chicago(live in Michigan). Sooo am I screwed and not getting my laser? I just recently got my 30mw green laser from them just fine but I used regular shipping.

You just better hope they don't completely open it cause the box with "Green Laser Pointer" on it is a dead giveaway :undecided: If it is confiscated you can contact max but their policy is pretty straightforward. And Max has said before that it is your own risk to import it in the first place so pretty much your on your own. I am getting a bit nervous because my laser has been in ISC NEW YORK NY (where they decide whether or not to send it to customs to get checked) sense the 3rd but they may have been closed on the 4th of July idk.

Edit: I have ordered 4 things from lazerer and have never had a problem and it is always marked as a flashlight.

I ship ALL of my lasers from Max via EMS and have never had a problem but I've only shipped like 5 times. Each time once it's left Hong Kong, the next thing I see on the USPS tracking is "Processed Through ISC New York Sort Facility", and then it's at my house the next day. I like EMS shipping because it is guaranteed NEXT DAY once it's in the country, so it's hurried along. A couple times using regular shipping from another company my tracking has read Processed Through ISC New York, NY for several days. Just with regular shipping it takes forever to update, or it's just backed up, but I think once it says "Processed Through ISC New York, NY" you are in the clear because it has "processed through" already and it ready to departing.. I think some customs states are more strict or search their stuff more carefully like LAX and Chicago. I wouldn't be too worried though because they need reason to beleive something wrong with the package, I.E. it says something suspicious like "laser" on the package or so. I know with all mine from Max, there was nothing on the outside that would lead anyone to believe anything was wrong, didn't say "LAZERER" or anything like that and was marked as a gift of a $20 LED Flashlight... Good luck..

BTW, what shipping method did you use. EMS? Or did you ask Max to ship it via FedEx or UPS or something, cause if you did then that might be why. I've seen alot of FedEx or UPS stuff actually state that it was inbound and outbound from customs, whereas USPS, even EMS does not, I don't believe. Try checking your tracking number via the USPS tracking feature if you've used EMS, not the Hong Kong Speedpost.

Yes I used EMS this time. It was processed into ISC Chicago IL an not NY. I mean I like that cause it's right next to Michigan so I'm not complaining just don't like that inbound into customs thing. Really gonna order more from them I like the feel of their lasers and power just hope this one can get through as it's for a friend and not me. But thanks for all the advice I'm not so much worried now. If everything goes well I will post reviews o the green laser from them and the red one. Also my violet but I got that off eBay only 5mw but really love that thing. Thanks guys.

Any item shipped from another country must pass through customs.
It seems like it doesn't always show up on tracking, though.

I bought a violet 5mW from Ebay an it was fairly bright for a 5mW. Chances are man, that your package just happened to be that 10% that they grabbed out of the bunch to give a closer look to. I think most of the time they just look over the customs declaration to make sure nothing stated on there is banned or illegal for import, in which case you'll be fine cause the package wont be suspicious and everything should check out, it might get X-Rayed, but the shaped of most lasers resembles what could be a flashlight, even if the box has "Green Laser Pointer" printed on the top, like most of Max's gift boxes, I dont think the x-ray will pick that up, as it really only distinguishes between densities (though I'm not an expert on x-rays in ANY form). It's like if you have a tattoo and get an x-ray, your tattoo doesnt show up on the x-ray... Anyway, let us know what happens. If it DOES happen to get opened and confiscated, according to Max you'll be the first of his US customers to have their shipment seized, because as he once quoted me "90% of our business is with US customers and we have never had an incident", now i don't know if that's the truth, or if there were incidents and they just didn't tell Max or ask him to ship them another laser.. ALSO, I would find out whether the laser gets sent back to the sender once denied entry into the country (if that happens) as I've heard before that people who've sent stuff that was denied entry into the US received their product back, in which case, Max shouldn't have a problem with sending you another laser, or re-sending the original one once it's returned to him.

I think mine is brighter then 5mw too. Can actually burn things with that and not my green one :p but as there is a first for everything I don't wanna be that first ha. I think everything will go well and I should get it tomorrow since its only 3 hours away just hope USPS loses that package like they did my green laser >.< called in and they found it thank god. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.

Clay-- just a little advice- try not to double post- for some here its a pet peeve and look what I did to your post below-- yours is what is know as a 'brick' and for old fogies like me they get hard to read---

(IS that^^^ actually just one sentance???--lol:whistle:)

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

see what I am trying to explain?? :D

about the OP- its a little too early to worry about something that worry will not fix anyway. "inbound to customs" is a step all boxes must go through-- and holidays always throw us a roadblock or two-PLUS there are the China holidays that if you wait just one day too long your box will sit in China for more than an extra week--good luck--hak:o

I think there must be thousands of "$15-$20 flashlights" as "gifts" coming to the US from asia. In fact that description would probably make them easier to find if they really wanted to take them.
Customs people can't be that dumb.

Sorry about that, got a little excited there, and when I'm sleep deprived I tend to run on and on and on and on and on and on and, well, you catch my drift. No more run on sentances from me, and I'll edit my original vs. double posting. Pet peeves are a huge thing for some people trust me, I have OCD, LOL!!!

I don't know, I just seems to me like there would have to be something "obviously" wrong with the customs declaration in order to give them sort of, "probable cause" to open the package, or can they just open packages on a whim? Like if it was a large shipment of lasers (10 lbs or so), but the customs declaration was marked as a gift, and stated the contents was (1) Flashlight worth $2.50 or something, lol.

Well it is inbound out of customs so hopefully it will come later today or tomorrow with a laser inside :)

You shouldn't have a problem. Like the other guy said sometimes tracking just displays different info. Once I was checking the status on when mine was leaving hong kong and it immediately said that it left hong kong for the US, another time it went through a whole barrage of crap giving me every single darn bit of info (Item scanned in, processed through facility 1, processed through facility 2, and such lol). either way let us know whats up.

Got the laser yesterday :) brother signed it for me since I wasn't home but he said it came in safely and works well.
