Why do you want a 1W 532nm green---very dangerous laser---one mistake and eyesight gone faster than blink reflex .25 seconds? Not such a good idea for someone new to lasers. You can count of about $1 per mw in 532nm for a good quality laser, maybe a little less depending. Keep in mind it would take 2W which can't be done as a handheld to be double the brightness of a 500mw.
What do you mean custom? No private builders make DPSS 532nm modules---too difficult to do with any consistent output and too expensive and time consuming to play with. Best you might do is get someone to put a 532nm 800mw module into an appropriate host you choose.
A true 1W 532nm is not offered by anyone because it is a DPSS laser, however if you bought a 800mw 532 from JetLasers it would probably hit the 1W mark. see: 100mW TO 800MW PL-E Pro 532nm Green Lasers
Yu can get a 1W 520nm diode laser from several people including builders on LPF. The diode alone is expensive so price range is $599 for a Arcane 2.0 520nm to $769 for a higher quality longer duty cycle, adjustble focus, and many other features JetLaser 1W 520nm PL-E Pro

nice thanks.. sound advice..thats why i love these forums. I learned something... Handheld only have 532nm in 800mw and 520's are 1w. So anyone who says they have 532 1W either has a 800mw or is full of it. I see so many descriptions of 532 1w online all the time. Thats why I was having so much trouble trying to figure out why there is absolutely nothing about a 1w 532 on this forum, I looked and looked and was like? huh? really? So the 800mw is probably what I wanted then. Is there a noticable difference in power/brightness in a 500mw 532nm and a 800mw 532?
If you get a high power 532nm make sure the out put is IR filtered---just 532nm output.
The Chinese bandit misrepresenting web sites usually mean 100mw when they say1W ---200mw when they say 2W and so on up. Truth is nobody offers anything beyond 800mw generally speaking and they are not cheap.
800mw is about doulble the brightness of a 200mw---compared to 500mw will be maybe 35 % brighter--beam will appear more substancial/solid etc.
I would say you would not notice much difference in a 600mw or 700mw compared to 800mw --so bright they overload eyes ability to see brightness

Check out these photos that hakzaw1 took, using 3 different high power (600,700, & 800mW) 532nm J/L lasers.
See if you can tell which is the highest power of the three; I'll bet most people won't get it right!

Yeah it's not a matter of them being wrong, there's just no guarantee that you can get 532nm over 1W in a handheld. It's happened plenty of times (I've read 1.4W is the highest ever made)
But like I said, there is no guarantee it will hit over 1W. I used to have a 600-800mW 532 and my college had a labby that I could fine tune power to over 2W. The difference between 800mW and 1W is there, but only really if you compare them side-by-side.
