Hey guys,
Today I got my laser Hotlight of DTR,
assembled and filled with anticipation.
He worked briefly but had to do it again.
When I smoked it and reassembled it on the battery is now no more.
Can one still save what?

Re: DTR`s Hotlight please help me

In you PM you said the unit smoked and that is normally done when something shorts out. Did you use anything to insulate the driver from the positive contact point in the host? Also it looks like the diode pins got twisted a bit.:yabbem:

you should change the title. it makes dtr look bad when in fact he isn't.

Sorry did not blame the DTR.
Yes I know it's my own fault.
Do you think it better if I issoliere and improve on the diode that it will work again?

it might work again. but like dtr said, your diode pins look bent. first i would disconnect the driver and hook up a test load to it, to make sure that it is still working. if it works, it doesnt mean the diode is dead. it just means it wasnt working in the host. i've had a driver short out in the host and when i cleand everything up and put it back in everything worked again.

good luck
michael.

It is all good. I have offered for him to send it to me and if everything is salvageable I will rewire and repackage as I sent it originally for just shipping costs. I think it most likely that he shorted the driver against the positive contact in the host. I can't think of any other reason that it would smoke.;)
