I saw the pyro poll, and though i'd see who likes high voltage related stuff here? ::)

As with anything science related, "the more power, the better" factor comes in to play here. I haven't messed around with High Voltage stuff (yet) but there are a bunch of cool things I would like try someday. Heck I remember when I was little when I thought I had access to high voltage stuff when I built a little leyden jar out of a film canister lol

yea i tried to build a leyden jar, but it didn't work and i had nothing to charge it with :D

high voltage and static electricity are fun to play with.

I had a nice tesla coil I built out of a keg/5 gallon drum. someone swiped it and probably killed themselves with it. ( if you became grounded, it would kill you )

I could light up lights from the other side of the room and do all kinds of fun. The thimble trick was cool, put thimbles on your fingertips and it shot out HUGE sparks/lightning (it also hurt like hell and left little burns all over your fingers ).

The coolest thing I've ever seen done though was a electricity awareness thing at Nasa/Cape Canaveral where they used a live powerline and let it riddle a pickuptruck FULL of holes to show the dangers of the high voltage lines there.

someone stole your coil :o :o :o :o :o i doubt they even know what it is :'( sorry to hear that :'( i don't have a TC yet, but i plan on building one in the future

First of all thanks c0ld for adding this section, you rock ;D

Giant Tesla coil, these things fascinate me, I wouldn't mind trying to make a small one someday

Here is a picture of my coil. I got it a garage sale a little while back. ;D I olso built one from a kit that I got from amazing1.com , not really sure were it went though.... :'(

Rule #1: Keep one hand in your back pocket !!
Rule #2: Rule 1 does not apply because that much voltage will reach out and grab you anyway !!!

yep ;D ;D ;D ;D i have learnt how to avoid MOST of the shocks, but they still get me, but that was from an ignition coil, so about 10kv. Now i have a flyback which is about 60kv, i know i don't want to be shocked by that!, especially since it has a huge built in capacitor ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D it's going to get me one day, but i'm not letting it get me easy :D :D

Yeah I've gotten some nasty shocks here and there. worst honestly was from a damn lcd panel I was testing for fit when making a carpc mod. The damn invertor or something arced off and BURNT a hole in my finger from an inch away.

I LOVE HV stuff!! 8-) ;D

Here is a link to a Myspace video of friend Tony taking arcs from my Tesla coil to a fluorescent lamp while - and this is extremelu important - standing on an insulated platform well off the ground.. Otherwise it could deliver a potentially fatal shock.

that's awesome!!! now i really wish i had a coil!!!! i'll accept donations anytime :D ;D ;D ;D
