I've always loved lasers, but never thought I could build one myself.

So glad to have found this community!

Already diving into my first project a 200 mW BR laser!
I may buy a 200mW red laser from Olike just cause they're so cheap and relatively good amount of power/money.

I'm afraid I'll end up blind by next summer XD

There is a lot of Laser Related info here.... and it is your for the
reading...

BTW... a lot of the info states that you should use Laser Safety
Goggles if you DON'T want to "end up blind by next summer"...

Enjoy your stay.....

Of course, at first I didnt think this was a big deal, but I'm definitely not gonna do any testing/using without a pair of laser goggles.

Thanks for the heads up!

Hey Tex! -er- Tak..

What part of Texas? I love San Antonio, spent a few years there. You know, Walker (Chuck Norris) is a member here.. kidding. It's his alter-ego though.

Anyway, welcome fer sher. This is a fun and resourceful place to play. Enjoy.

Hahaha, actually Walker has a ranch near College Station. My brother (who lives in a small town near CS) says the locals see him shopping in the local walmart every so often.

In any case I live pretty close to San Antonio, I love SA too, but Austin is where it's at.

Yeah, this place is plenty fun, its amazing how much I've learned just by reading nonstop these past days.

Welcome!

I recently purchased the new style waterproof 200mW from o-like.com and couldn't be happier for the price spent.

Also finished my first blu-ray build last week :)

Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the forum! You'll find loads of info here to help you with your bluray build. Also available on the forum are diodes, drivers, hosts, heatsinks, and other items needed for your laser builds. Laser safety goggles appropriate to the laser in use are a must. Enjoy your new hobby (obsession/addiction?) safely.

I love SA too, but Austin is where it's at.

Yep I agree! Mom used to live in Dallas, but I always went to Austin for ACL and UT fun. Good luck in the Big 12 Championship next week!

Have fun with your projects!

Jethro

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Will definitely enjoy my stay here. Yeah those 200mWs from o like look like a good choice... might just have to get one.

I didnt know about it, but figured something like that would be necessary when I noticed most high powered lasers come with heatsinks.
Thats a pretty nice build there.
