You know, I've thought about both, but I think we should keep it to handhelds/pointers. Most beginners aren't going to want parts; they seem to prefer fully assembled units, at least in my experience. Perhaps we could eventually create another thread for parts. :)

How about labs, a lot of us here (me included) buy lab lasers too.

Best to stick to pointers I think - once people get into lab modules they tend to know where to look for them. :p There aren't really a ton of shady companies selling them anyway - at least that I've seen.
 
I suppose you are right. I got into labs once I became more experienced and understood the benefits. But I believe this thread should be for experienced individuals as well as new-comers.
 
Best to leave this to pointers/portable lasers. Newbs don't usually come around looking for parts or lab lasers.
 
What do you people think about adding 'recommended wavelengths' for each company; that is, wavelengths for which they offer the best deals?

sounds good to me? Sanwu is good for blue, and so is jetlasers. Dragon lasers has good prices on 589.

Indeed. I think we need a little more info about the stability and quality of the lasers before we can say for sure though. Now that I think about it sanwu has good prices for all wavelengths. Bit lasers is also very affordable.

I've made a significant update; I've added "Advantages", "Disadvantages", and "Best Prices on:" for each company along with the median shipping time. If I have put something down that is incorrect, please inform me. :)

Looks good Sta. :beer: Reads honest and will be appreciated, maybe even by the companies themselves. A lot of companies pay a lot of money getting feedback and ideas for developing their products.

Also, I still need some shipping times for BitLasers! So if you've bought from them before, please tell me how long your shipping took. :beer:
 
Haven't read the whole thread, but I think you really should add under DragonLasers that they occasionally ship underspec lasers and will refuse dealing with it afterwards.
 
Would it be easy to extract the diode and driver from a bit lasers host? I see they have a 800mW 520nm and I'd love to put it in a different host :D
