Funny enough, I'm just now for the holidays visiting my dad in France near Paris. Maybe we'll see one another :p

My ex is from Évreux, about an hour from Paris. Stinky cheese and Calvados ("cul sec").

You two could pass each other and never know it. Avery should start selling merchandise with the LPF logo, including hats and shirts.

Glad to have a new member here , My wife was born in France and all her family on her mothers side live there. Oh and as ONVI said Stinky cheese my wife like it but when she brings it home i put on a chemical gas mask. Just can't myself to indulge.

Can one of you tell me the name of that stinky cheese? I want to know if I have tried it or not. I eat a lot of different cheeses and have had a couple of kinds from France, one I have eaten off and on over the years but it doesn't stink. They make good cheese in France, that's because they make it with unpasteurized milk, you probably didn't want to know that. :crackup: I know what Calvados is but I don't drink it but I do drink, everyone in France drinks, that's why they can eat so much bread and cheese without getting constipated. :crackup: I am 1/4 French, my last name is French. My mother and father, brother, sister all lived in France, my sister was born there back in the mid 1900's in post world war 2 france, she would not like me saying that :crackup: I can't remember now the town she was born in. My father was in the Air Force or was it still the Army Air Force, not sure what year it changed. Some time after the war when they didn't need so many bomber crews he became a special agent with the OSI, he worked in the law enforcement side not in intelligence, he was a police detective investigating any crimes involving U.S. Air Force personnel or property. He passed away in 1992, he and my mother married in 1941, they met at a public swimming pool in San Antonio Texas. I am the only one who was never in France. We will all pass away in the next ten years, my mother is 91. My sister is the only one who had children, 3 girls and one boy, one of the girls has been to France and elswhere in Europe.

Sorry, I can't remember. I did know once upon a time but we divorced in 1995. She used to say, the moldier, the stinkier, the better. I couldn't even be around the cheese - peeeeee youuuuu. I do like the mild cheeses though. Brie and Camembert are a couple favorites. My ex called our american cheese that comes individually wrapped 'flat cheese'. She also used to say we had flat grasses after the gardener came. We weren't married all that long but I did get to visit 4 times and each time I saw France from the inside out - not as a tourist. Very pleasant people (except for the stuck up ones in Paris - she didn't even like going to Paris).

One of our trips took us down to the south beaches. I wasn't prepared for the fact that I was going to see everyone's breasts. Kids, teenagers, all the way up grandmas. That took some getting used to. I wore sunglasses for a couple days. My ex explained that they got the idea from the Scandinavians when they came to visit. It wasn't the French that started it.

Funny you mention family roots, my Grandmother on my father's side is 100% French Canadian and grew up in MA. So I'm a 1/4 French (Canadian) also. Between her New England and French accents it was hard to understand her. Turns out my ex-wife was the first relative she ever spoke French with. Everyone understands my ex-wife since she speaks the 'Paris' dialect which is what major newscasters speak over there to ensure most everyone can understand them (I call that the O-Positive dialect). But it was hard for my ex to understand my Grandma.

He should! There is a website where you can create your own shirts, it's called "SpreadShirt". Not sure if anyone has heard of it, but it's a pretty neat website to buy your clothes from. That's where I bought all my shirts :)

Geeker welcome, see right of the bat you had something to give.:) Pi thats not a bad idea, what kind of legal issues could there be? Lasers isnt a hobby that sticks out like restoring and driving old cars or wood working etc. it just doesnt come up in conversation to a average stranger. If it does some seem to look at you weird and think your making a death ray or something. Its kinda a hobby left unsaid, if I found it others will. I would love to come across someone wearing a LPF hat or T shirt, instant conversation:beer:...Little edit..Im Greek but I still cant understand why people "I mean ones that werent raise on it" love Feta cheese so much, I can take it or leave it but I will say the real best feta is made from goats milk thats hard to find here, but greece has many hard cheeses I love and who here doesnt like fried cheese?, but I agree France is the king of cheeses!
