Alright, here's the story, I just used Malwarebytes (love that program) to remove a virus so I know it's not malware (giving a bit of info) but whenever I try to go to a site with Chrome I get 'Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.' Even when trying just google.com or lpf. I've tried some suggestions from google's help forum, and it's not helping. Tried with firewall off, tried to use 'detect previous settings' in wireless settings. I can go back to Opera, but I just loved how much room Chrome had on screen. Any help at all would be appreciated.
 





I reset to original settings, the only thing I've really changed is the theme. Not sure of the version, I'm going to try deleting the old Chrome and reinstalling the latest version.
 
sounds good. let Us know how it goes. I use Chrome exclusively now, but I do have all the other browsers installed in case I have a issue.
 
I've got Opera as a backup (am using it now actually) and it's fine, but screen space on a netbook is essential :undecided:
 
Yea that is a bitch on them. The error You were getting is unusual, and it's like Chrome has lost access privileges. when malware removed the virus the next chrome session should have reacquired all the necessary certificates, etc.

@Coherent, not sure which you mean? (Bit of a noob on some things)
 
so Opera is the only browser that is working for You? BTW what file did malware have an issue with?
 
If IE doesn't work, it sounds like your system-wide proxy settings are off. You should be able to change that somewhere in IE options... Don't have a Windows machine to check where right now though.

A proxy server is a server that clients can use as an intermediary to connect to other servers on the web. Basically, you send your web request to that server, and then it'll relay that message onto the end server for you. They have a couple uses, although none that you're probably interested in.
 
As Jedi said it sounds like your proxies are incorrect. We need to find out what Opera and Firefox are using. Go to tools, options, advanced, connection then settings in firefox. Report back with what You find
