These diodes are rated at 500mW right? Does pushing them this high have any visible effect on wavelength? If they hit 420nm or higher I may have some interest...

Being a multi-mode diode, I doubt it could be pushed so hard it would make it to 420nm. I believe the BDR-209 single mode diodes have a better chance of making it that far. As for burning power, the BDR-209 is still better as its divergence is much lower, so the power density of the beam profile is going to be greater than these higher divergence ones.

1.6W 405nm? yes please. figured it would be multimode, sounds like ok divergence. I'm used to trying to tame nubm44 and oclaro 638s with g7 lenses, so if it's better than those, that works for me.

I see there are 495s and 505s now.

I recently ordered some 200mW 405nms pocket series for some friends, very satisfied. used them for some GITD art

as soon as I see the 495s and 505s, I'll get those as well as the 405. I emailed a question about it to the contact email at sanwu but have not heard back yet. seems like podo may be on it with these, which basically answers my question

As far as the 495nm diodes go, I'd get one when they become available. At the moment, the quantity is limited and we all remember the "480nm" diodes that are gone and never to return.

Another update:
Now you can select the battery configuration for the challenger II, between a single 18650 battery or two 18350 batteries. :wave:

Hey Podo I got a question, I received the pocket 505nm, (Hopefully will make a review or something soon) I ordered it with a G7 lens, and when I received it I got two lenses, one in the laser already and one in a little tiny bag, I was wondering which lens is inside the laser, the element 3 or G7? I'm not sure how to change lenses in this laser it seems very delicate. I thought the laser will come with only one lens that I chose, but its actually kinda cool that I got an extra lens. :)

If you post a photo of the spare lens we can tell you what's in the laser. The one with the larger diameter lens is the g7. iirc the g7 lens is pretty large

Well, for that matter, isn't a G7 a single element lens? That should give it away.

Yes G7 is a single element.
