This diode would make a super burning laser.
Rated at 7W continuous and 15W pulsed.

The diode is new, and manufacturer suggested price is $1399.

You can have it new for $210 shipped.

I apologize for the delay, here are the datasheet and two pics.
If you are serious about buying it, I could mount it to a tec cooled heatsink, and do some burning tests at half power...(I only have a 4A driver).

It depends what you mean for mounting?

I can mount the diode on a brand new Pentium4 cooler with a tec cooler in between the diode and the copper. That alone will cost you an extra 50$ in parts and labor.

At that point what you will need is a driver capable of 1,85v at 8A and a pc power supply, you have to cut the 12v wires and leave 2 of the 5 volts outputs, one for the tec cooler, and one for the driver.

Much easier to do it with 2 large nicads, like 3600mah, in series and a adjustable voltage regulator capable of 8A continuous, that will give you 20 minutes autonomy.

There are 2-3 feet of fiberoptic cable 122nm thick, so the best way to focus it would be to buy a special fiber holder and a collimating lens. The cheaper way for you to focus it would be to drill a very tiny hole, like 0.5mm through an old 5.6mm diode after removing of the front can, and insert the drilled diode in a Aixiz module, then hot glue the fiber end inside the hole so it's sticking out just 1 or 2 mm, then use a glass lens to focus the output.
The special holder and focusing lens are found on ebay for like 150$ from junktronics I think it's called.
The aixiz is much cheaper and work equally well for burning and focusing at distance (careful with that).

Notice that a similar diode made in china is selling on Ebay for 600$ plus shipping,
and this one retails for 1399$ it's EM4 brand.
The diode is new. I will be the first to put solder on its pins once I mount it.
 
yup this is just too much of a headache for me Im sticking to the HE/NEs lol GLWS =)
 
Well, I find it no harder than mounting a blue-ray diode, but that's just me.

Of course everything has to be bigger. This has 7,08 W optical output after the fiber, that's continuous rating, it's not pushing the diode like we do with the 5,6mm ones.
The maximum pulsed power is 15W on this one.
With fiber coupling the output is perfectly round. It's very divergent, but perfectly round, it burns nice right out of the fiber, but you need to keep it close to the material you want to burn. With a regular focusing lens, this thing can be focused into an ant's ass.

Is is New or have you experimented with it to find the above results...

I have mounted and used a 3W fiber coupled diode in the past, very similar to this one, just a bit smaller in size, and it was so easy to focus it to a very thin point, much like a single-mode laser.

I have had many multimode lasers and have never been able to get it down to less than a millimeter, even using different types of cylinder lenses.

That's why ultimately I bought this 7W laser.

You can see the diode in the pic, it's new.

I would not mind mounting it though, if the buyer allows me to, 'cause I am curious how/what it will burn.

Also if you have a schematic of a driver capable of 8A continuous, I'd even be willing to build it so it could be sold complete with driver.

I am NOT trying to desperately sell the laser , you know...
I have wanted to build it for a while, I hope I don't change my mind, as I need some hobby funds for my r/c quadrocopter addiction.

... if you refer to the output results , I have the test sheet from the manufacturer, showing the Amps , temperature Watts out, with different graphs , one at 25°C and one at 35°C

Lol you're trying to build one too? I've been looking at those and they look really awesome. Good luck on that, and be sure to post some pics once you get it working.
 
actually I already have a few tricopters, and now I am moving onto a quad.

That's why I am selling all my lasers.

Got 4 diodes of 1W 808nm for 20$ each.

Anybody interested?
 
I have small single line cylindrical head Argon I would be willing to trade for this. I don't know where you are though, shipping could be a killer.

Thanks for the additional info... My ISP has been down until this
morning... Trying to catch up...

I've done some more reading on fiber coupled lasers and the
output beam will not work in my project application...

Hope someone that needs short range burning snaps this up..:beer:

What's the output of the laser and is it just the diode?
