Nah we'll reach a point where the status quo is simply unsustainable, and there will be a massive death toll with the majority of the human race dying. Hopefully the survivors will be the best and brightest left (though history shows that's not always the case) and the process will begin again.

If some of the technology and science that exists even now, survives, let us hope that some minimum requirements are in place before people are permitted to procreate. Otherwise shmukshmorshion time :)

I actually lean more toward the catastrophic collapse of society as well.
Luckily our brains have not evolved beyond the hunter/gatherer mindset anyway ;)
