Thanks Grainde. I didn't get a chance to post a link as I had to move all my cars because the driveway people are here (widening and redoing it).

No worries, this is the BBCs report perhaps you can see how it differs from your one? Would be interesting to see how the media portray the story across the globe. ;) It is sad though that a few people will end up ruining things for the rest of us, much like with lasers. :(

Let's hope this was an accident caused by some idiot and not a test by some terrorist. You would think that the average person would know to stay out of the approach path of a major airport like that, they shouldn't even be near the airport, but it looks like there have been a few near misses before.

Well looks like I'd better go buy a drone now. How long before idiots get them banned?

Well now that they have to be registered here in the U.S. it doesn't matter if you buy one now or later. If they get banned they will already know that you have one.

Sorry, I lost my drone in a tragic tree accident;)

Interesting how NBC has sensationalised the title and written that it was a drone, everyone else wrote it may have been a drone...All of them allude to how dangerous they are however and strive to promote regulation in the UK... :(

Cheap drones are an extremely scary issue to our governments, hence the push for registration, and regulation. Notice it went into overdrive after a drone simply ran out juice, and fell on the white house lawn. (With zero intent to do any harm.)

Even the defense system are not really setup for drones... anything larger, helicopter, small plane, etc,. they are setup for, but a small drone the size of a large bird... that's a problem.

I fully expect lots of drones to have had "accidents" after purchase to avoid dealing with registration bs.

I bought one for my daughter for her birthday as I couldn't think of anything else to get her. She loved it though. Has a camera on it and can take stills or video.

Edit: That was right before the licensing law, so she didn't have to register it.

If its over 250 grams you have to register it to use it outdoors.

Mine are all under 250.

Drones are being cracked down on hard. I've read about anti-drone guns, china employing their own drones to catch drones. So yeah, better get me some before they're banned. I wanna get into FPV racing.
