Driver and Host sizes

Hi LPF,

I'm obviously new to the scene and I figured I'd as a simple question. I was wondering, how do people know which drivers fit with which hosts? I took a look around on ebay and a few of the stores linked in some threads and also on some signatures. I've come to find out that not all drivers are the same size, and of course the size of the hosts depends on what you get.

What I'm afraid of is buying all the pieces I need but then come to find out that they wont all fit together.

I think that's why I'm hesitating on buying some stuff to start building lasers on my own, using this forum as a guide.

Hey Papi, you can always find out the size of the driver and find out the inside dimensions of the host and go from there, or go with a popular driver/host combo. According to http://hacylon.case.edu/ebay/laser_diode/MicroFlexDrive_V5_manual.pdf the micro flex driver, a very good driver btw, is 9x12mm, it's smaller than a penny!

Many have had success with this and many other drivers, so please feel free to ask!

Check out some of the host/driver kits the members of this forum are selling, there's tons of great info anywhere you look.

Thanks for the advice! It was definitely quite helpful. I did what you suggested and after looking around, i actually did find dimension inforamtion on hosts and drivers. I didnt think about doing that, much less did I know they posted that info.
