What kinds of stuff can you do with a laser pointer that is astronomy related ? Do you need a certain color or power laser ? Are laser pointers capable of touching the mirrors on the moon ?

I use a 50mW 532nm. For awhile I was using my 2.8W 445nm but it made the stars Explode so I stopped using it!

You need it to be powerful enough such that the beam is visible in the dark (depends on beam size and wavelength, so I can't give a specific number)

Any visible wavelength will work, I prefer ~642nm.

Yes, and they come in handy mainly when you're trying to show others an astronomical object. Also as sight mounted to the telescope they work well too. Just be aware of aircraft.

I use a 75mW green pointer for astronomy. Bright beam and easy to see.
