I saw a video explaining how to build one on a shoestring. It certainly won't have precise measurements, but it's a good starting point;
I just need to buy the materials. What do you use? Something DIY? Or expensive, professional LPMs?

BOM : Peltier cell, voltmeter, thermal paste, PC heatsink, cooling fan set 12V Adapter, cell heatsink, on the hot part, a black primer will be applied using a permanent marker, the two + and - cables must be connected to the two alligator clips for the voltmeter, the wheel is set to "V" and when a laser beam is turned on, whether it is a pointer or a module, as the heat increases on the hot cell, the power will be read on the voltmeter.

e.g. if the beam of a laser reads 5420.09, then it means that the diode is 5W and something pushing it to the limit

If the Peltier outputs 5,420 volts, You may have a free energy machine !!
Also, For the hot side of the Peltier, you might consider a flat black
engine paint -- a light coat. If you burn it, clean and recoat.

The machine was not that sum, it was an example based on a video. Yep,matte black is a great tip, THANKS Mike!

You can achieve a decent LPM with some specific peltier modules (not any) and a fast and accurate ADC.
My LPM is based on esp32 (not the best ADC within but it was enough). And a 3v or 5v peltier modules can't recall exactly model atm. Some good matte black paint. The beam had to be unfocused when testing otherwise will burn the paint off. The coding took many revisions but at the end of the day I was left with a 10W LPM just couldn't measure low power below 100mW. I calibrated my LPM against Gold standard LPMs and I was less than 1% off after I was done and satisfied with what I had done.5850f1ae-917e-42f0-89fa-4ba4cfd7ec86-1_all_8957.jpg
