Do any custom host creators think that they could create a host with enough room for a small (1inch x 1inch) circuit? I am a programmer/engineer and lately we have been working on fingerprint readers..I am wondering if I could find a proper host, I could build a circuit/reader for a switchless laser, that would use your fingerprint to activate instead of a physical switch.

Any thoughts or anyone willing to give it a go? This may end up being a group project..I am not very familar with building lasers themselves, so we might to have a couple people working together to accomplish this. If it succeeds I could easily make the modules for people to use (FPR for something like this would only cost around 50$)

Sounds interesting! Better than keyswitches IMO IF they work well.
Right now I'm not building anything in that I could integrate such a switch, but maybe other members here.

If you want to make a host that fits it contact MrCrouse he makes awesome costum hosts:yh:

So the price would be around 50$ right?

Mrcrouse is the man to go to. This sounds interesting. so you'd have a bio-metric piece of glass on the laser in which you'd place your finger on to activate?

The actual parts to make the FPR would be around 25$, with about a half hour of assembly. The finger print would need to be added to the approved list PRIOR to being put inside the laser (unless you want to put a microUSB port somewhere on the laser). I suppose, if you really wanted to get fancy, we would put a microUSB port for both USB connection to PC (to set the print), and for charging the batteries.

Getting elaborate, but would be cool. Lots of failure points, but if it was mastered, would really be innovative.

Micro-usb port sounds really good.
Of course you would need a charging circuit too to charge 1, 2 and maybe 3 cells in series at once with an idicator led when fully charged. I could design this circuit for you.

Go for it, I think were getting into something that could turn out well. Theres going to be a little bit to it, but well, thats technology. The hardest part of all this isn't going to be the circuits or programming...It's going to be the host lol. Making a handhand host, with enough room, and still looks cool.

I'm working on both :eg:
Actually a host is already designed big enough to fit it

I'll send you a Pm on circuit details and host design tomorrow or so. ;)

This sounds really cool! I really want to see this completed! GOOD LUCK

Now i'm really interested to see the final result! Good Luck!
