The Magic Pen - Copper Pen Host :wave:

Im glad to announce the first installment of my All Copper Series, This particular host has been on my to-do list of projects for so long, and My good friend Eitan (Thejoker301) suggested me once but I didnt had the resources or the skills to accomplish this.

The only problem with Pen Hosts, No Heatsinking. Sucks? Not anymore :eg:
I have successfully made a viable contender that will stand side by side with 18650 sized hosts and out-perform. This is not just a claim, thanks to "The Cypreus" God of Copper, I also used red-brass for focus adapter, which is the best quality brass they used as a gunmetal in old ages before the steel alloys.

This is just a teaser for now, I hope you guys enjoy my 1x10440 build with single mode red diode.
I will also have a 2x10440 version and both will be released on 1st of January 2014. Est. Cost for both will be $18 and $25 for the pre-orders before i calculate the actual retail price.

My completely honest, mostly unbiased opinion of these is WOW. They look great!!

I have to say mostly unbiased because of that nice red beamshot.... plus the copper!!!

If it wasnt for you my friend I couldnot have the idea in the first place, It wasnt until now that I tried the use of copper in a slightly new design. This wasnt less than a surprise that I actually could get 110g of copper to heatsink a pen host, without increasing the size of the head, still keeping the same exact dimensions infact better.

Great design, looks almost steampunk!
Only problem is the copper getting darker due to touching it.

Copper does get darker overtime unfortunately, and I do have a few test samples coming in. Ni-Plated and a powder coated one. I personally want to go with powder coating since it gives it more rugged and durable outlook but the Nickel/chrome plating gives it character, and class. Suggestions are welcome on this one.

@Grainde sure thing buddy, I personally wanted this host for a Osram 50mW PL520 but now It's possible to get the 120mW PLP diode into it. It's going to be awesome. and with it's heatsinking it could still be be more awesome when the bigger brother 1W finally reveals itself. have got plenty of copper to keep that cool, I have invisioned a 1000mW green in this host, that would be just sick.

Some samples arrived today finally, Love the powder coated ones BUT they didnot survive the drop tests, As much as i loved the finish of the matte-black hosts I think im going to let this option go. White ones get scratched and dirty quickly.

However Im loving the Chrome plating, It's so nice you have to hold it in hand to get the feel.

Any suggestions

Damn they are all beautiful! I like the matte black most, next is the white, then the chrome.

How about a clear coat over the powder coat? Or maybe try clear coat on bare copper?
