Hey guys i have a big problem...

Yestorday when i was playing counterstrike i saw something on the carpet from the side of my eye. I turned around to see a huge ass thing with like 30 legs on each side. So i started screaming and my bro came in and dropped his heavy bag on it like 3 times which did nothing but slowed it down when it was running full blast. Even my dog didnt do shit it just sniffed it and i have a german shepherd and now its dead because we called our dad to kill it. Now for my question is there any thing i can buy thats 30$ (including shipping $) that can kill these things? im generally looking for fire but if theres any thing else that i can kill using them (no traps)
 





once a centipede walked on me while i was sleeping :eek:

you can buy killing spray locally. how did you kill that fuckshit anyway? i hate those things :(
 
You guys are pathetic babies.
Centipedes wont bother you unless you provoke them and they actually help by killing and eating other house pests.
Unless you have a problematic infestation, I wouldn't worry about it.

I actually caught a 10cm centipede yesterday. I took it home and put it in a small enclosure until I could get a bigger one and it ended up escaping in the night.
It might turn up sooner or later. :D
 
We moved into a house that had many of these.. It is said that they are
next to impossible to get rid of... yeah right :eg:

The first year here, I kept torch type lighters handy... The legs fall right
off with a good blast of heat.

But what I found that works best is large sticky traps meant for rodents..

Put them all over your basement where no pets nor small children will come in contact..
The glue boards will catch things like spiders..

It takes a few days for the spiders to die on the board, and make perfect bait
for the centipedes!

They are hunters and cannot resist a juicy spider twitching on a board :D

The only down side is that without them, the population of spiders will increase.
If the population of centipedes is high, it is because they have a good steady food
supply...

Remove them and their prey will come back up..


Those ugly little buggers live >7< years which is crazy for an insect.. I had
1 glue board that must have had 20 of them over the course of last spring.
This year has been only a couple of sightings. So the glue boards work like a
charm..

They also 'hunt' in pairs.. If you see one, there is another close by. They are
mostly found where spiders hide. If you get no bugs on your glue traps, move
them around once per week until you start finding 'hot spots'.


Good luck, and never admit to screaming like a girl on a public forum :crackup:

I do have this problematic infestation. I don't know but I can't stand the view of something so scary( :D imo ), running so fast and then hiding below me bed :eek:
I mean, spiders are ok cos they're slow :D but these guys, yaix, :undecided:

Back when i was young enough to go out collecting things with lots of legs, centipedes fascinated me. I got bitten by one once. When describing it to my dad afterward i explained "it didn't hurt, just surprised me". Haha... fun times.

Millipedes are better though. Their legs move in waves, it's fun to watch.

Thats what I meant ;)

The torches are good for the ones you see, for the many others that
stay hidden, the glue boards are great..

It will be a losing battle if you only kill the ones you see running
across the room.

Glue boards are only a couple of bucks and well worth it.


Unless you want this little guy watching you while you sleep :scared:

Yea they are pretty harmless, they are just ugly/freaky looking.
They can just get annoying when there are lots of them.

We get them at my house every couple years. Its weird, they come and go.... and when the come, we get a whoooole bunch of them.

We tried to feed one to our spider. (Big spider, fishing spider, but its close to the size of a tarantula) and to our amazement, the centipede attacked the spider, we freaked out and hurried up and pulled the centipede back out of the cage.

Im not sure if they really bite people, but they scare every girl in the house.
 
Off-topic: I lost my Eqyptian cobra, when it escaped from it's tupperware enclosure. Never did find it, but I was living in an arrid part of the country where they usually die from thirst. :) I don't own any reptiles at the moment.

Apparently they have a stinger similar to a bee. The good thing is
that the stinger has a hard time getting through human skin..

The only risk may be with small children who skin is still soft and easier
for the stinger to penetrate..

They also need dampness and high humidity levels. They can also survive
with no legs (so ive read)

People also think that when you kill one, another appears like its avenging
the death of one you just killed.

My experience has been that they seem to travel in pairs.. Very odd critters
for insects..

The 7 year lifespan was what really blew me away. That and the fact they hibernate.

Some ants live up to 10 years and the Cicada is another..
