BUYING 200mW green burner.

Just ordered a 200mW burner from texas laser systems and I have had no reply on tracking info for 4 days, and am afraid they will not ship the laser. I live in minnesota, and will be canceling my order as soon as they answer the phone or my email. For the meantime post some offers please. Again looking for someone that will ship to minnesota from within the US to avoid customs.:shhh: 200mW or greater for around 150-200! Thanks!

If you're willing to wait a week or two then you could buy a 200mW green from chinese sites such as rayfoss and o-like they have good reviews on this forum and are reliable.
www.rayfoss.com for only 150$
That leaves money left over for eye protection which is extremely necessary with lasers especially a 200mW Green.
 
But will customs be an issue coming from china, and also being 200mW?:anyone:
 
O-like and Rayfoss are quite successfully at getting over powered lasers threw customs. If you do a little research here on the forum you will see many people in the USA have received lasers from them without issue. Don't quote me but I think O-like even has some kind of refund guaranty if customs nabs your laser.

I'm the owner of Optotronics, our +150mw pen pointer may fit your needs.
They do not have 200mw avg. output but are close and many are between 170-175mw.

Well I am now undecided on what I should get. They have a 1W blue ray burner for 200, and they greens are much more. Reds are cheap but does not have the wow factor imo. They all have the same general burning power per mW am I right? They are on O-like and im thinking the blue 1W would be sweet for burning and would look cool.
 
Sure, the price looks good for 1W of blue [445nm] (not blu-ray 405nm), but really 1W is waaaaay too powerful for a first laser, you won't even be able to look at the dot with out safety glasses.
Even with 200mW of green, you won't be able to look at the dot without safety glasses.

High-powered lasers are no joke and can cause irreversible eye-damage if used haphazardly without taking the proper safety precautions. :cool:
 
Thank you for the info, I do understand the hazards. Anyone have experience with O-like? How do they get them into the U.S?

They send them via regular mail (express isn't worth it), and they rarely have any problem going to anywhere in the US.
They also (sometimes) put a <5mW sticker on it, and declare it as a "flashlight" or "gift" so customz isn't red-flagged. :yh:
Also, if you ask o-like, they can send the batteries separately so it makes it more difficult for customz to "test" the laser's output (if they actually open the package and see that it's a laser [which is very rare]). :evil:
 
Well I got the 1W blue laser from o-like. Hopefully no customs issues. Can wait to get it in 12-18 days, post any comments!
 
You went from 200mW to 1W. Do you know how dangerous a 1 watt laser is? Please read up on safety before your laser arrives!
 
WE ALL VOUCH FOR EYE SAFETY AND WE KEEP GETTING POSTS LIKE "I GOT THE 1W 445".

Seriously.. This is really pissing me off.. me and many other members...
Anyone who is reading this and care about LPF and lasers in USA.. should pm me..
We can't let the whole thing get screwed up.
 
I ordered a 1000mW Blue Laser from Texas Laser Systems on July 2nd, and I haven't heard anything from them since! The order status has been "processing" the entire time and I'm almost sure I gave $219 to a scam. They haven't replied to any of my emails. I did manage to dig up some info (i googled the company :p ) and this site:Texas Laser Systems - El Paso, Texas (TX) | Company Profile has some info on why I think TLS is a shady scam. Such as it only employs 1-2 people.
