so with my minimal knowledge and the help of a cat while I was disassembling it, I managed to break off a lens piece, it no longer turns on, I bought it for 11$ as it was stated as a burning pointer, but after hours and hours of testing, you couldn't do anything with it,

a couple things I was curious about

1, I need a laser capable of burning white string, and white zip ties in an instant, or as close to it as possible. my reasoning why is completely stupid and its just something I want to do.

2 I have a xbox hd dvd drive if possible to replace the diode in the laser I broke if anyone can give me a crash course on how.

aaaaaaand I don't have much money to do much of anything,

so did I make enough sense? feel free to ask any questions.

Here are some questions:

1) Why are you using a burning laser around a pet?

2) Why would anyone want to help you achieve an objective that you yourself admit is stupid?

3) Why didn't you read the material already on this site before asking a question, or multiple questions, that are answered a hundred times over?

Calm down there is no need to get irritated, please.

1. I did all my testing of its burning capabilities with goggles and such at my work. it broke while I was at home with it disassembled got knocked off the counter when I looked away, my fault for taking it home to work on. was NOT using it around pets. and this laser, does not even heat anything, just very bright

2. its not actually a stupid objective, it just may not make sense to anyone else, but sometimes I need to cut these things in places where I have a line of sight, but scissors cannot reach.

3. I did search for materials but I did not find any involving the sd laser housing replacing the diode. if you would be so kind as to point me to one, if I have been searching the wrong criteria
or if you know the post that involves cutting string and twist ties, white black or any other colors, that would be helpful.

or if all else fails, if someone knows the mw needs of the cheapest pointer to get the job done?

So I am sorry if im causing an issue.

You didn't focus your laser and why it didn't burn. Read the forum and you'll find your answer quickly. No questions needed just read

I did actually focus it, It has a dial, and I tried it at all settings(distances), and it would not burn or heat up anything, its probably just a cheap piece of garbage from china.

There are tons of thread with that exact question, use he search bar at the bottom. Plus, styropyro has a video showing how much mW's is required to burn(which has also been shown on the forums tons of times).

The red lasers are not know for their burning capability's. Blue is your friend for burning

Thank you very much for the info, so I will look for Blue and a thread that has this covered, this does help me narrow my search, thanks again
