I plan to get a 500 mw 405 nm cyber laser from lazerer I know it is great for burning buy how bright would it be compared to a. Green laser in brightness how far would you see the dot at night? I have goggles also how bright would the blue 445 500mw cyber be to a green thanks
 





Yes I saw that before but it doesnt seem like it would nr thaat low I.have a 50 mw violet that is like a tty 2mw green but this says the 500 mw would be less than that
 
That calculator is way off for violet..

Bad thing is that dot brightness depends mostly on the fluorescence of whatever you're pointing at. I have a 200mW 405nm and at some targets it's just slightly brighter than a regular 5mW red. Pointed at white clothing the fluorescence is almost as bright as a 200mW red. It's almost always dimmer than my 10mW greenie. Beam is visible at night but just barely. "Dot" can be seen some 50m away but it starts to unfocus real bad after about 5m - looks more like a blur than a dot.
 
My 445nm is 1100mW, beam is the brightest I've got (look at the sig below). It literally pierces the night sky!

The dot brightness seems slightly less than my 635nm 415mW and brighter than the "300mW" greenie (which I guess is more like 100mW). The greenie will point much further due to better divergence - the dot of a high power 445nm looks rectangular and expands much faster with the distance but even then I can see the dot at least a couple hundred meters away (that's the most distant safe target I have here).

If you're aiming for brightness a real 200mW greenie will certainly be brighter than a 500mW blue and will cost about the same.
 
500 mW 445 will light up the sky and burn pretty good. The 405nm wont be nearly as visible, but will actually burn better. like Atomicrox said though, if you want brightness stick to a 532nm laser. 200mW will still burn, and will be a lot brighter than the 445nm or 405nm.
 
and here is another question about violet what causes it to change so many colors when hitting different targets? it goes violet , blue, white,, cyan,,,ect depending on the target...
 
It also depends on your eyes, I can see 80mw of 450nm way better then 20mw of green, I can see a PHR beam pretty well also, 500mw of 405nm will definetly be there, just not super bright ;) but a 500mw 445 will be extremely bright as well ;)
 
Oh ok yeah violet may not be that bright but it definitely has the most unique traits of the colors... Like writing on glow in dark paint,,, and ok I assumed brightness is effected by our unique eyes. And for your 80 mw 450 nm blue. Is that the blue one from o like?
 
For the divergence being worse for blue. How bad is it. Like what would be the divergence for it on targets like 400 m away In. M/rads. ? Say for 500mw cyber I mentioned...
 
I'ts bad but there are worse diodes out there. At 400m away you'll get a huge "dot" that isn't round at all. Try searching for the M140 diode on the forums, you'll most likely find some divergence measurements and pictures.
 
For pointing purposes, the divergence of a 445nm, with the standard 3 element lens is bad, but it's still good enough.

If your target is 400m away, not really an issue.
