What people/sites sell green DPSS modules? I know o-like and rayfoss sell them, but I was wondering if there are any other ones out there? Are there any in the United States? (less shipping costs for me ;) )

Thanks!

I plan on having 100mW and 150mW green modules for sale in the near furture they won't be any less expensive but you will be able to get them a lot sooner and they will be tested.

jasper laser sells 5mw, 50mW and 100mW modules but they are way too expensive. The modules that are used inmany chinese pointers are SXD modules I believe, butt I don't think you can buy those "out-of-host" anywhere. DX sells modules but the 200mW modules perform anywhere from 80-130mW though. Anything below 200mW and you might be OK to go with DX.

Thanks for the information. Only problem is living in the US, DX is a bit of an issue.
Keep me updated Flaminpyro, thanks.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but DX will ship all of its modules to the United States, just not any fully built lasers over 5mW.

Let me know if they do ship modules to the US, that would be great.

EDIT: I just checked, and I don't think DX sells green modules.
RE-EDIT: I stand corrected, thanks to triggerjerk. DX does sell green modules.

You mean like this?

DealExtreme: $16.43 50mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm)

or this?

DealExtreme: $33.33 100mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm)

or this?

DealExtreme: $46.81 200mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm)

Also, nowhere does DX say they won't ship modules to the USA, and shipping, although slow, is free. It being the silly season now, I doubt that domestic shipping is moving too rapidly, either. Order some parts/tools and go do something else for a while. Your patience will be rewarded.

I stand corrected. Thanks! Anyone know if US customs is allowed to seize modules, or is it only fully built lasers?

Found it. Chinese New Year starts February 14 2010. Make sure to order way before that day, because it will delay your order 2 weeks to a month if you order on, or near that date.

Yes, Spring Festival is coming, but there is still 2 months. No need to hurry. 7-14 working days is enough for china post air mail(not hongkong air mail, hongkong airport are jammed since Oct this year) to be delivered.

AFAIK - There is no law against importing laser components, including modules. Even paypal accepts such orders. You can import powerful hand held lasers, but they must have FDA approved safety factors built in - i.e. key lock, aperture cover, warning light, delayed trigger operation, etc. These are available, but they are not cheap.

If you are careful, and know what you are doing, you can get just about anything you want built here. I started with a chinese laser, sent through Canada. Search the forum for more details on that option. Watch the buy, sell and trade and the pro shop sections, a few members make prebuilt burning lasers at very attractive prices. If you feel you are up to it, read (a lot) especially the tutorials, and gather the pieces to build one yourself. It really isn't too difficult, but it requires a minimum of tools and a lot of knowledge of what NOT to do.

From one n00b to another, don't be in too much of a hurry. Chinese parts are cheap, but they take about two weeks to get here, and you'll probably forget something, and there's another two weeks. Or you can try to find someone here that already has the parts, but expect to pay more, of course. Don't be too thin skinned around here, they have recently had some serious flame wars:fightin: and banning:banned: and are a little hesitant with n00bs.:undecided:

I seem to be having a problem getting good modules that will maintain there rated out put for more than one minuite from O-like, Susie says she dosn't have any other complaints about them so how about it any one besides me getting under spec green modules ???
This is how my last four 100mW modules scored from O-like and I ran them for one minuite stright @ 3.0v to get them to operating temp. some didn't make it that long !
1. 104mW any time warm or not.
2. 115mW cold for about 8 seconds then it goes down to 39mW within one minuite.
3. 102mW cold for about 15 seconds then it goes down to 32mW in less than one minuite.
4. 76mW cold for about 10 seconds then it goes down to 56mW in less than one minuite.
so I'm now looking into other vendors and maby even manufactures. when I find someone that wants to play I will probly be offering green modules here in 100, 150, 200mW sizes, larger if avab.

I just got 50mW module a few weeks agao.
It takes a good 25 seconds to get up to full power.
It stars off way under the rated power. The dot is barely visible almost if the batteries were dead. This is with fresh charged cr2 cells at 3.4v
I don't think it even gets close to 50mW, I would say 25 to 30mW.
It also sufers from some artifacts that it's picking up from underneath the lens.

Not happy with it at all. But I'm not going to send it back as the shipping cost would be more then it's worth.

I`m waiting my DX 200mW 532nm Laser Module. It should give about 80 / 120 mW of output. I`ll post some pics of it when arrived.
