I got the AAA energizer ultimate lithiums and will try them out when my nova x100 finally arrives today, but are there any better ones to use? Thanks.

energizer ultimate are the best primaries, but better (more economic) is to get few AAA >1000mAh rechargeables (sanyo eneloop are best, but actually anything works ok)

i just received my x100 from nova today. but for some reason, any lithium battery will not work in my laser. however, any alkaline battery will work fine. why is that?
Also, it will not light a red headed match, even if i sharpie it black. it will only start smoking, but not light.

Strange that the lithiums don't work at all.
They work on our Optotronics premium 150mw pointers, but even stranger is that in our pen pointers, using the Energizer ultimate lithium batteries results in about a 20% reduction of output power. Normal energizer or duracell alkaline batteries give an output of ~155 to 160mW and when the energizer ultimate lithium AAA batteries are used, output will usually be between 125 to 130mw. This was verified by both myself and one of my customers using different lasers and batteries (all brand new cells).

Very odd, I would say that that X100 is WAY underspec.. I would suggest you get the power output tested... I can do this for you if you wish, just PM me :)

Don't use the Energizer Ultimate Lithiums for lasers ever! They have been measured up to 1.9v, and 3.8v is not a good idea for a 3v laser. I would use Duracell Ultras (1.6v) or Energizer standards (I prefer Duracell Ultras). I never liked the standard Duracells...

Alright guys I fugured it out. The reason my matches were not lighting was becuase I was using really old matches. I picked up some new ones, colored them black, and off they went. almost instantly. I can even light them from about 2-3 feet away! Thanks for all the help.

Has anyone else tried blue headed matches? They light faster than the red ones for me.

Randomlugia just said what I was about to reply. Energizer ultimates are simply the best primaries that you can buy in the consumer market. They do come out of the package at 1.8x volts though. If your laser will not power up on them, my first guess is that your laser has some form of voltage sensing and will not run when the voltage is too high.

all mine have the energizer lithiums in them, the 405nm has been using them for 4 months with no issues at all with any of my lasers, much brighter and ive yet to need new batteries for any of them either.

In my experience with pen style pointers Duracells seem to work the best and last the longest.
