Hey guys.

I haven't built a laser pointer in like... 2 years or so.

I'm curious as to what all has changed. I know there's some new colors and stuff out but yeah!! I think I'll probably be getting back into laser stuff again.

If anyone could bring me up to snuff on everything that's changed or what's new please do so!

Thank you!

Welcome back, man!

Yeah, it's been a while. The landscape has changed a bit now with regulations cracking down, but at the same time the output levels achievable now are insane. Couple new wavelengths have become readily available for modest prices.

Welcome back!

Lots of news, let's see:
-Two diodes that can do around 1W 520nm. Still quite expensive ($300-$400).
-Two that can do around 2W 462nm. One of these is interesting in that it can be pushed hard to 475nm, perhaps even 480nm near it's death!
-There's a new "double emitter/double beam" diode at 639nm that does 2.5W.
-Word of mouth tells of a *single mode* 1W red on the horizon, but it could be bullshit :P

That's what comes to my mind.
